ASSALAM ALAIKUM!! IMPORTANT AUTHORS NOTE AT THE END!!

----------------------------------------

The rest of the day passed by in an agonizing pace. Aliyah had herself cocooned into a little ball in front of the window, while Rehan worried over her deterring health. He had tried everything to try and get her to come out of the darkness, to speak. She wouldn't listen.

Her phone had ringed many times, shaking him out of his thoughts. But he gave everyone who called the same excuse: Aliyah was sleeping. She was running a high fever.

"Alu, please look at me, na." He tried once again. He was running out of patience, his worry gnawing at his insides. All he wanted to do was to yell at her telling her to come back to him and to say something to him. But all she did was tighten her grip on her knees and blink whenever he called out to her.

Aliyah was gone for the rest of the world, into her own little whole full of darkness. Rehan's heart filled with pain as tear after tear leaked from her eyes, reminding him of all her pain. He wanted her to say something, even to sob. She couldn't just sit there and drown in her silent tears. He wouldn't let her.

It was damn final that she wouldn't listen to him.

His mind raked to form a solution to this. She wouldn't listen to him, so she would listen to someone else. He grabbed her phone from the window pane and quickly unlocked it. She had a finger-print lock which, she taking 'precautions' put his fingerprints as an applicant too. He quickly scrolled through her Contacts on her iPhone and stopped at one, specific name. One name that he specifically disliked, one, whose owner that- although he would never admit it- he was jealous of. He suddenly debated if he should call him or not. He looked at Aliyah's coiled form, full of defeat.

He remembered their past moments, and how he cuddled with her whenever she needed it. Whenever she would have a nightmare, he would be there to calm her. She had stuck to him like a magnet, clutching his arms tightly as she dug her nose into his chest, hiding in him. He wanted to be the person that she grasped to emerge from the darkness. But his reality was astonishing. But today she needed someone else, something else to calm her down and bring her back to reality.

He sighed and took a deep breath. In and out. In and out. He had to do this. He, after all was his wife's best friend, nothing kept them apart. No secret, no hindrance. But Rehan also knew that Aliyah needed her best friend right now, and he needed to do this.

He hesitantly pressed the 'Call' icon underneath Cameron's profile picture. He immediately put it on speaker. The bell rung twice before  a deep voice answered, "Only if its an emergency. Speak." In a hard, demanding voice. Hell, his voice was very harsh, Rehan doubted whether Aliyah should have a best friend like that. But his thoughts were cut short when Aliyah gasped at the sound of Cameron's voice, breaking from her reverie. It was a soft gasp but it wasn't missed by neither Cameron or Rehan.

"Aliyah?" His voice had changed from hard and business like to soft and a little bit of surprise.

"Aliyah? Is that you? Aliyah, are you crying?" He asked, worried. There was no answer.

"Alu bear, my she-Aladdin, why in Allah's name are you crying?" A strangled sob released from Aliyah.

"Aliyah? Did Rehan do something? Tell me, I will come and we will deal with him. Tell me, baba." A throat cleared from the other side, then Rehan put the call on hold and messaged Cameron.

"Aliyah's mom came over today. She said some.. vulgar things and Aliyah is not responding to anything. Can you talk to her?" Rehan swallowed his emotions and texted him. The call picked up again.
