Slow Down

How many lights do you see?

The strange man took me into a fairly large room with strange patterns all around it. They look odd but kind of in a good way. I wish I could say the same for the  lighting.

The man sat me me down and bonded me to the  chair. He made a quick exit while my interrogator entered the room

"Welcome" he said, "I'm sure you are aware of your current  situation".

"no one know you're here. As far as you're friends are concerned you're dead. So there's no point holding back anything. It's not like we are going to let you go free. All you can hope for is to go quickly"

... Silence filled the room. I had no answer. But he had made perfect sense. That is all I can hope for ...  Apart from rescue. That's what I had to hold on to.

"As you wish" he sighed and actually sounded a little disappointed. I mean what was he expecting. We both know what has to happen and we both know how this would end.

He picked up some sort of remote and pressed the red button on it. Within an instant a set of blinding lights came on.

"Tell me Alim, how many lights do you see?"

It took my eyes a lot of time to adjust to allow me to see properly. But I was confused ... What was this? I count 4 lights.

"There are ... 4 lights"

"No alim there are 5 lights, count them again"

I was puzzled beyond all reason. I looked up confused. I counted the lights but there were only 4 - not 5.

"There are 4 lights"

A brief moment passed and he slammed his hands down on his desk. "I'm not going to ask you again, how many lights do you see? There are 5 lights !" He shouted.

I was stunned. I didn't know what to think. This man was insane ... What the hell is going on? I looked up again. There were only 4 lights.

"There are 4 lights" I said innocently but still confused.

He switched the lights off a moment later. The room went completely black as my eyes needed to adjust again.

Out of the darkness a silhouette figure came right at me and attacked me with his fists.

I was out.

Cold.
