PRINCE ❥ chapter deux
"I think your problem is your self-confidence," Del began to say as she shoved her almost empty backpack into the locker. Despite what most people thing, Delphine was one of the smartest people at school, and had taken all her academic classes over the course of her first three years as a student and over summer school, leaving her to only take the elective needed for her A-G requirements this year. And to add, she had three study periods.
"I don't really think I'm lacking."
"See! That's your issue."
"Pardon?"
"You shouldn't think, Elle. You should know."
"I don't know about that."
"Strike two." Delphine cleared her throat and began to braid her hair back, leaning against her locker. "So, here's my plan. We'll attack during lunch."
"Again; pardon?"
"You're going to ask Levi out. It may be a little nervewracking, but you'll pull through."
"Del, I'm--"
"Hey there, Twinkle Toes?" I felt a sudden weight on my shoulders.
"Twinkle Toes," Del and I echoed in perfect synchronizations.
"Am I interrupting?"
"You're weird," my eyes narrow and I poke Milo in the chest. He chuckles but nevertheless pulls me into a side hug from out current position.
"You were in my dreams, Sunshine."
"Oh yeah? Must have been one hell of a dream."
"Oh, yeah," he hummed, winking. The whole time, Delphine watched with a look of wonder on her face. "Care to introduce me to your friend," Milo jerked his head towards Del.
"This is Delphine Pyth, aka Del, my BFF."
"I thought I was your BFF."
"You're right--Delphine is my BBFFL. Best Bitch Friend for Life."
"Flattering," Del snorted before standing up straight. "You're the new guy."
"That, I am. But I'm called Milo."
"Del, but you can call me anytime."
"Cheesy," I huffed. "Anywho, what's up? Miss me already?"
"I felt your need to be with me so I somehow wandered over, Sweetcheeks. Can't resist."
"I can resist, thank you. And stick to one nickname, yeah?"
"Sunshine really strikes a chord with me. Don't ya think?" He addressed Del.
"Whatever floats your boat." Something was underlying in her tone, but all I did was smirk to myself.
"Sunshine, it is." Milo finally released me and moved to the locker beside Del's.
"Oh, I forgot that your locker was down this hall. You didn't actually miss me."
"Oh, I assure, I did. It just so happens this is fate."
"No. That's fate." Del pointed behind me, just in time for me to see Levi walk past, casually holding his backpack strap with one hand.
His appearance struck a small chord in me, and I didn't know if it was because I was scared or mesmerized. Levi Rivers has always been known as a lone wolf, a kid who keeps to himself and purposelessly pulls away from others. He doesn't have a single friend unless you count his brother and his lackeys.
