PRINCE ❥ chapter neuf
"Dude, her nose is redder than Rudolph's when he guided the sleigh so bright, riding on Santa's sleigh Christmas night."
"Not the time," Milo was suddenly serious for once. My eyes shifted towards him, and my surroundings began to make sense. I moved away from the dark car uncomfortably, clearing my throat.
"What's up," Caspian's voice was cheery. Someone must've had a good day. "Didn't get enough of us at the breakfast date we had?"
I couldn't believe so much had happened in the span of one day, but nevertheless, I was determined to keep what little sanity I had left. I was pretty sure, at this point, and since I'd just gone through so much, my current mission was to stay out of my sister's and Nikolai's pathways. And now, there was a raucous red alarm going off in my head, with a rough voice yelling 'DANGER!'.
The reason? I was still in the damned guy's driveway no matter how you saw it.
"Hello," Milo's voice drawled as he bent down at the waist to be eye-level with me. "Earth to the little kitty-cat."
"Maybe I should claw your eyes out if that's the case," I snarled before I could stop myself. Milo was one of the few people I'd come to actually like.
"Woah, chill. What's up, babe?"
"Milo, can you drive me home?" I sighed and side-stepped him, feeling too warm beside him. My lips still burned, and I resisted the urge to touch them. How could a kiss be so dry? It was nothing like in stories.
"Uh," he gave Caspian a look, and he stepped in.
"Niko borrowed his car."
"Aren't you rich? There's like a dozen other ones at your house, no?"
"My family's a bunch of conservatives. We don't wanna kill the ecosystem, and besides, my family thinks I'm the one who's gone with my car." Milo jerks his head towards Caspian. "Decided to hang out here with Cas so we could get all the details."
Did I even want to know?
I couldn't even wrap my head around what was going on--all I could gather was that I wasn't going to get home anytime soon.... unless...
"Do you have cash for a taxi? I'll pay you back."
"Got change for a $100," they both cheekily asked. While Milo actually pulled out a bill, Caspian just kicked at the dirt.
"What? I'm poor," he let out a humorless laugh.
"You and I both, babe," I muttered absentmindedly. "So what am I supposed to do? Walk? Getting here by car is a journey on its own!"
"Chill with us. Although you're gonna have to hide from his parents."
"Why? I thought Mel loved company."
"She does, but... let's just say this: Niko is banned from meeting girls, going out, bringing friends other than us over, etcetera etcetera."
"What'd the bastard do?"
Caspian and Milo gave each other looks.
"What? He rob a store or something? Geez, he's not some badass," I rolled my eyes.
"Trust me on this, Sunshine. Come on, we'll go through the back and Caspian will let us in."
"Isn't it okay if I come in? Levi was taking my here anyway," my cheeks burned red as I mentioned his name. I was going to punch that guy in his throat the next time I saw him.
