HAPPY NEW YEARS! MAY YOUR 2017 BE THE BEST.

"It is better to regret what you have done than what you haven't." -Paul Arden.

PRINCE chapter cinq

I pulled on a gray hoodie and black skinny jeans, folding the hem into cuffs as per usual to show off the anklet. I was much more curious about it now after finding out about it from Levi. Who could it have come from?

I let out a sigh and picked up a pair of white Converse from my closet and slipped them on before pulling on a gray beanie to match. I figured I would just wear the coat and the scarf again.

"We don't have all day, Sunshine. Let's go," I heard Milo's voice on the other side of the door and rolled my eyes, despite him being unable to see me. I made my way to the door, pausing on the way to pick up my crossbody purse and stuff a few bills inside. "Cute. But not warm enough."

"My coat is downstairs, Casanova," I snorted, using the nickname he had bestowed upon himself.

"That nickname sounds delightful when it rolls off your tongue."

"Can't say the same about Sunshine."

"Ouch. That hurt." He grabbed me by the wrist and pressed my palm against where his heart should be, "Right here."

"Oh, don't be a baby. Words can't really hurt you."

"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me," he quoted.

"Exactly. Now come on, the faster I get you to the diner, the faster you're all of my hair."

"You hate me that much, Sunshine," Milo pouted, and I reached out and pinched both his cheeks, my heart melting at the scene. Milo was like an adorable puppy.

"Nah, she hates me," Nikolai made his entrance. He stood at the top of the stairs, staring at Milo and I. "I'm starving, woman. Lead the way."

"You guys have never been to the diner?" I let go of Milo, and as soon as I did, he picked me up and tossed me over his shoulder. I let out a squeal, coming face to face with his butt. "There's no junk in your trunk."

"I'd say the same about you."

"That's just rude," I hummed.

"Besides the point, no, we have never been to this particular diner."

"So you've been to a diner?"

"I've been to Denny's," Milo smiled, and I squirmed in his hold. "Once."

"What'd you get?"

"Spaghetti." I groaned.

"Put me down, you giant." Milo appealed and set me down on my feet. "I have an agenda, so let's get this done. We're walking, right?"

"I'd rather not. It's freezing, it's cold. It's snowing."

"We're walking. And that's final." Seeing as the diner was only a ten-minute walk at best, I didn't feel like wasting gas or anything of the like. I ushered the boys down the stairs and into the living room, finding Del and Devyn separated and Caspian beginning to doze.

"What happened," Nikolai muttered, picking up his coat off the seat beside Caspian, alarming him in the same moment.

"Nothing," the two spoke before glaring at each other and standing.

"Let's go," Del grabbed her jacket and shrugged it on, leading the way out the door. In the short amount of time since entering my home once again, snow had started to fall outside.
