Chapter Seven

“You sure this is safe?” Sukai questioned doubtfully as all of Team 4 stood in their usual training spot, the three Genin completely packed up with multiple sealing scrolls holding a month worth of supplies each placed within their backpacks. The scrolls themselves were placed inside of air tight bags, given the risk that they could appear in water or something.

Their backpacks held those along with other essential items and they were all fully stocked with weapons. Walking over to the three Genin, Kansei looked them all over before walking over to Sekka and taking the sword from its sheath strapped to her back.

She opened her mouth to question what her sensei was doing when he presented her with a new silver and blue handled katana that was almost a replica of the previous katana he had given her. The only differences was the handle color, the fact the sword was brand new and the more durable metal it was made out of.

Sekka’s eyes lit up in amazement before she grinned at her sensei. “Thank you, Kansei-sensei!”

She took the sword gently before backing up a few steps and swiping it through the air experimentally. Sheathing if after a few swipes, she ran over to Kansei and hugged him, surprising the Jonin.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve been saving up for a new sword too!”

“You’re welcome.” Kansei patted the girls head before she released him and he turned to Yari. Pulling out a scroll, Kansei summoned a pair of duel kama blades that were completely black, even the metal. The chain connecting them however was gold, and it was obvious that the weapon was expensive. Handing over the blades as Yari stared at them in amazement, Kansei watched as the boy also started to experimentally use them before attaching them to his back after pulling off his older blades. Sealing them into a scroll, Yari placed it in another air-tight bag before placing it in his backpack.

“Thank you sensei, really.” Yari told him, getting the Jonin to smile and nod. Turning to Sukai who was doing his best to hide his wary expression, Kansei let out a chuckle.

“Too bad you didn’t take to weapons. It would’ve been easier to pick something out. But I figured ‘what the hell?’ and made you these.” Pulling out a packet of sealing tags, he handed them to the Nara and watched as his eyes widened in understanding.

“What are they?” Sekka asked, blinking as Kansei handed both her and Yari one each. Sukai however had been given about ten.

“Tags that have chakra stored into them. You slap them on yourself and release them. It’ll release all the stored chakra into your system, replenishing your store.” Kansei shrugged and looked over at Sukai.

“You can’t exactly fend off something with a weapon like they can, so I gave you those to make up for it. Once you all get back we’ll be working on your chakra storage levels.”

“How’d you make these….?” Sukai questioned, looking over them in amazement.

“Raion and I created them. Fūinjutsu can be used in so many ways that you have no idea about.”

“Thank you, Kansei-sensei.” Sukai mumbled sincerely, making the male nod.

“Alright, now do as you would normally for a summon. I’ll see you all when you get back.” Stepping away from his students he watched as Sukai quickly placed the seals within a bag like Yari had done and place it into a pack before the three Genin looked at each other as they steeled themselves.

Looking over at their sensei, they all bit their thumbs simultaneously before making handsigns. “Bye, sensei.”

With three puffs of smoke, the Genin were gone. Transported to somewhere no telling how far away. The black and white haired Jonin stared at the place they had been for a few moments before letting out a long sigh and staring up at the sky.

Pulling out a pocky stick, he put it in his mouth before walking away from the training ground and heading towards the Academy and subsequently the Mission Assignment desk. It had been three months since he had taken a mission higher than a C-rank, but while the Genin were gone he was determined to make up for it.

The epithet Konoha’s Silver Spark hadn’t been used for him in quite a while and now that he was off of ANBU and people would learn his name….Kansei of the Silver Spark would soon be known instead all around the nations.

Besides, Kansei needed something to rub into Yari’s face when he got back.

Sukai appeared inside of a pitch black forest. Sweatdropping, the Genin looked around in apprehension before jumping up into the towering trees and heading in a random direction. He had no idea what animal would be there, and he rather not find out if it would see him as prey.

As the black-haired Nara moved, her could see sunlight struggling to make it past the canopy, making him realize that it wasn’t nighttime where he was. The forest was actually this dark, even during the day. Whatever lived here would obviously had night vision, and that made him wary about when he’d need to sleep. Good thing he stocked up on soldier’s pills.

Ten miles away from where the boy had appeared, a gigantic black creature opened his blood red eyes and let his ears fall flat against his head. Looks like someone summoned themselves here….how long will it be until they’re eaten, I wonder?

The massive creature closed his eyes yet again, letting out a deep chuckle. “If he even makes it to my den, he’ll be good enough for a contract.”

____

Sekka gasped as she was dropped onto a lake of water. Blinking, she quickly took stock of her surrounding and noticed that it was a small lake compared to some that were around Konoha. A waterfall was twenty feet away from her, the cliff if fell off of giving nothing away seeing as trees towered up into the sky. The entire lake was surrounding by a forest as well, making the girl frown.

“Definitely not a water creature.” She muttered, walking on the water with chakra focused into her feet. Looking up at the overcast sky, Sekka smiled as she took note of the position of the sun. Turning around, Sekka headed towards the waterfall. She would head north, for now anyway.

Watching from within the forest, twenty pairs of glowing eyes followed the girl as she jumped up the cliff face and headed the opposite way the river that led to the waterfall flowed.

“Tamaishi-sama will destroy her.” One of the watching creatures hissed.

“You never know, she may be worthy enough for a contract.” A far more upbeat voice pointed out.

“Your optimism annoys me. I hope she eats her.”

Yari let out a yell as he appeared where his summons lived. Flying summons. Of course that would be his luck. Pulling his kama blades from his back, Yari quickly tried to save himself from plunging to the bottom of the two hundred foot deep chasm.

Throwing forward one of the black blades, he was lucky enough to jam the blade through the hard rock, using the other blade and the chain to swing himself to the cliff face.

Connecting to the rock with chakra at the bottom of his feet, Yari let out a sigh of relief before scaling up to where his blade was buried. Pulling it out after a little bit of struggle, the dark brunet headed up to the edge of the chasm.

“Thank Kami that Kansei-sensei found it important to train up our strength and speed so much since the beginning.” Yari grumbled, shivering at the thought that his blade wouldn’t have enough power behind it to stick into the hand rock.

“Now, what kind of bird would I have?” Yari asked himself, pulling himself up to the top of the chasm and looking around. Gigantic trees were on both sides, the chasm splitting between it and going both left and right for about a mile. Deciding the forest would probably be the death of him, Yari turned right and decided to head south. If all else failed, he’d just turn around when he got to the end.
