I would like to take a moment to remember the great Alan Rickman, whose death early this year has deeply saddened me. We were told by his close friends and colleagues that he was a wise and kind man; he was quite clearly a fantastic actor and he played a huge part in my life and the lives of millions for ten brilliant years. Although Rickman played a controversial character, Snape has always been a character I empathized with and he was portrayed so well by Rickman that I warmed to him even more. Despite the fact that my story is not focused centrally on Severus Snape, I wanted to speak about him fondly in remembrance. Please raise your wands to a brilliant man.
