Idea 07: 02

I walk down the corridors lines with boys’ dormitories yawning as I do so. I hate getting up early. I always try to sneak a few extra minutes of sleep in before I’m actually ready to get up and start the day. I wonder to the cafeteria to get my breakfast and go to take a seat. As usual, I’m the last one to show up. T.S. turns around at my arrival and holdsout his hand towards me, “What’s up,Demi?” he greets.

I slide my hand across his and we bump knuckles. Only T.S. can call me by that name. I look around the table to find Ace hunched over last night’s homework and the kids jabbering on about some cartoon show. Ace seems to be stressed about something, but I doubt it’s because of the homework. Then again, mathematics was never her ‘thing’, as she would put it.

“Ready for more motorcycle goodness?” Rider stupidly asks, mostly targeting Ace.

She rolls her hazel eyes in annoyance at him. Somehow, one look into them gives you an impression that they've seen things that a seventeen-year-old shouldn't have seen. It makes me uneasy and difficult to look into her eyes. She then proceeds to tear a chunk off her beloved doughnut and throws it at the blond. He laughs, thanks her, and pops the chunk in his mouth.

Rider and B.W. tend to act like little kids instead of sixteen-year-olds, but they mean well. I think. though seeing the look on our leader's face when they told her the ramp Captain Irene had jumped was inflatable was pretty funny. Truth be told, Rider had built that ramp a while back and keeps it stored in the garage. They just managed to pull it out, while Captain Irene was busy giving Ace a good scare.

I guess being in the car when T.S. crashes, which is a lot, does end up scarring one for life.

Ace takes a sip of her overly sweetened coffee while Rider basically reteaches the motorcycle lessons Captain Irene had gave us yesterday. I tune in seeing that I still have no clue how the thing works.

"Oh, Captain Isaac." the four of us look up when we hear Ace greet a tall, broad shoulder man with a lanky build and a welcoming smile.

“Morning everyone, hope everyone has slept well.”

“I believe we did.” Ace responds, bewilderat he fact that another captain Is addressing us.

Before she could ask his reasoning for this, he answers, “Captain Irene has been dispatched so I’ll be in charge of your motorcycles lessons for the next couple of days.” Ace nods her understanding and he smiles, taking his leave.

"I wonder what important assignmentCaptain Irene is on." B.W. ponders out loud.

"Who knows, she's probably out there single handily fighting a giant army of robots as we speak." Rider says.

"What is this?Irobot? She's probably gathering information from an opposing corporation, or something." Ace counters, finishing off her coffee.

Rider crosses his arms and fakes a pout, "always have to go and ruin my fun."

She just smiles in amazement. The only time her eyes are pleasant to look into is when she gets that fond look in them they only get when it comes to us, her team.

Thebell ringsand we clean up our table before reporting to our first hour.

...............<.<...............

We spend the last two hours practicing our motorcycle skills in the parking lot of 'The School. Rider isrampingthe ramp he had pulled out yesterday to help with scaring Ace while B.W., her motorcycle still in the shop, stand on the sidelines and watches enthusiastically. T.S. is riding around trying to figure out how to stop. The guy can start anything motorized and on wheels, he can drive everything motorized and on wheels, but lord help him when it comes to braking or dodging things.

Ace, on the other hand, is staring at her motorcycle like it's gonna come alive and eat her, much like she she did yesterday. I swear, she's fearless when it comes to bombs, kidnappers, gunfights, and, most recently, suicidal hackers, but she immediately reverts back into a scared little girl at the mention of a vehicle.CaptainIrene didn't really help the situation much by taking her on that little joy ride yesterday.

Taking notice of T.S.'s situation, Rider drives up along side him and demonstrates how to properly stop. T.S. tries it and ends up making his back wheel pop up which almost throws him over the handlebars. Seeing no harm had come to him, Rider bursts out laughing.

He then drives up to me and explains how the motorcycle works. It takes me awhile to get the hang of it, but I'm soon driving around the parking lot with no issues. That's more than what I can say about a certain somebody. Captain Isaac is currently talking to her now. He then picks her up and seats her on the seat of the bike and she tenses up, nothing but a pale statue now. He then gets on behind her and they take off at a muchslowerpace than what our captain had been going.

At this point, T.S. challenges me to a race. Wanting to test my skills, I agree. B.W. signals us to start and we're off.

Forming a strategy, I fall back and let T.S. take the lead. I let him think he's going to win and wait for him to get cocky. When he does, I take full advantage of the situation and push my motorcycle to it's limits. I dart past him, leaving him with a quizzical expression. He snaps out of it and makes haste to catch up.

"Hey, can I join it?" Rider yells over the bellowing motors, pulling up between us, "Or is this a 'no pro' kind of deal?" he laughs at his own stupid joke and easily pulls ahead. Exactly how and when did he learn how to ride a motorcycle?

We round a corner and I slow down, taking a more cautiousroute. T.S., on the other hand, still goes all out and whips around the turn like nobody's business. I mutter under my breath and race to gain the lead. We pass Captain Isaac, who just cruising around with Ace. She appears to have relaxed a bit, but is still tense. She nearly jumps out of her skin when we blow past her. T.S. busts out laughing as a result.

We round another corner, me slowing down while T.S. refuses to. His luck runs out. His front tire hits something and he looses control over the whole vehicle causing him to wipe out. B.W. screeches from somewhere in the background as I make a U-turn. Captain Isaac and Ace swoop by, Ace jumping off of the still-moving motorcycle to run to his aid. Rider is already at his side when everyone else arrives at the scene.

"Dude! You okay man?" B.W. questions.

"Yeah, I believe so." he groans, as he sits up stiffly, "I think you jinxed me."

B.W. laughs, "Man, you cause enough damage on your own without having to be jinxed!"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Help me up would ya?"

Rider and B.W. offer him a hand and he climbs to his feet. I look him over. He has a limp in his left leg, but there's no telling how bad it is, and he's covered in scrapes and bruises. Other than that, I don't see anything majorly wrong with him. Then again, I'm not a doctor.

"I'm guessing there's no hope in you riding one by yourself now is there?" He asks Ace, using the kids as crutches.

For the first time ever, uncertainty crosses her expression. Ace sighs and replies, "I don't know." Her look then harden into a glare aimed at Captain Isaac. "Why do we need to learn these skills in the first place?"

Good question.

We all turn towards the smiling male for an answer. "Why? Are you not having fun with this unit? I can assure you that the quicker you learn to drive it yourself the faster it will all be over. We'll pick this up tomorrow. For now, lets head in and recuperate." with that, he takes his leave, whistling a cheerful tune. A look of utter frusteration enters our leader's hazel eyes.

"You know, it's not all that bad. The only reason B.W. and T.S. crashed was beacuse they were reckless." I try to assure her.

"That's the least of my worries now. I want to know why we need to know all this."

"Well, give it a try tomorrow and see what happens next." I ruffle up her dirty blond hair and she growls at me. "Coming, mother?" she rolls her eyes and follows.

I hate it when the future is uncertain.
