"No. I'm not going to hurt you Alexandria. Please come out of there."

Alex watched him with a shocked expression. She knew this all too well. They would pretend to be kind, pretend to care about her before changing, so suddenly that Alex had no time to adapt. She hated it. The girl backed farther into the alcove.

George saw the distrust in her eyes and respectfully backed away as well, "come out when you are ready Alexandria."

She winced, "Alex, please sir, call me Alex."

He nodded and left her to her thoughts.

~time skip brought by an elephant riding a unicycle. Idk~

Alex soon joined the others downstairs. George, Martha, and Lafayette were gathered around the kitchen table looking quite worried, they stopped their hushed conversation as soon as they noticed Alexandria.

"Ah, mon petit lion, we were quite worried about your well-being." Laf smiled softly.

She only nodded, "oui, désolé, I am sorry to have worried you all."

Martha noticed something was off, she noticed how Alex was acting reserved and cautious, and she didn't like it. Martha wanted Alex to feel at home with them, she wanted Alex to be comfortable around George, Lafayette, and herself.

"Alex dear, come sit."

The Nevis native sighed and sat in between George and Lafayette. She fidgeted a bit and bit down on her fingernails, going so far as to bite them until they bled. Laf placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled at her gently.

They had a sad look in their eyes, "mon petit lion, what's wrong?"

Alex looked up at them, "I-it's unsettling. You're all suppose to be angry! You're suppose to yell and threaten me and beat me! A-And you're not. Not one of you has been anything but kind to me. It's unsettling."

The three of them looked at her with varying degrees of pity.

Martha was the first to speak up, "Alex dear, we would never be that hostile towards you. I'm not sure how your situation was before coming here but I can assure you that a good parent, or even a good foster parent would never hit their child."

George nodded gently. Alex looked at them uneasily, she didn't know how to feel, after all, plenty of people had lied to her in the past why wouldn't they lie now?

"I have to go, I'll be in my room." She stood and excused herself from the table. Once in her room she collapsed onto the bed.

~time skip brought by Alex and her trust issues~

She felt emotionally drained, like all her energy was stolen from her and all she wanted to do was curl up into a ball. It became harder for her breath as she struggled to come to terms with her current situation. Alex recognised her she was having a anxiety attack and desperately fumbled around in her bag for her pills. It felt as though a brick was sitting on her windpipe restricting her breathing the longer it sat there. Tears blurred her vision as she began to tremble. The girl soon abandoned any hope of finding her pills and collapsed on the floor, sobbing grossly. She felt trapped and confused, the anxiety attack made her palms sweaty and her mouth dry, she curled up whilst still crying and struggling to breath. George, Martha, and Lafayette sat at the table, completely unaware of her struggle. They talked about normal things, such as how their day went and what their plans were for tomorrow.

A/N: hey guys, gals, and nonbinary pals! It's shorter than usual and I feel like it sucked, but I hope you like it! I'm so sorry for not updating, I've been depressed and writer's block is a bitch! On the bright side Alex is going to school soon and meeting Tamsin! Until the next time!
