Ch 16: Lycanthrope

"Werewolf? How is that possible?" Woo Hyun asked. "I thought they're extinct."

Shock and fear shown itself in L's eyes and Sung Gyu wrapped him in a warm hug. "It's okay, where is it?" Sung Gyu asked.

"No!"

Everyone turned to Rinny, who had tears streaming down her cheeks and Kimberly was already halfway to the mansion. "No, don't tell them where she is! Please." Rinny begged L. "She's not stable, she can't be around humans."

"You knew?" Woo Hyun asked as everyone else started murmuring.

"I- I-" Rinny bit her bottom lip to stop herself from crying but failed to do so. "Please, don't call the police, she's harmless!"

"Too late."

Everyone turned to Sung Yeol, who just got off the phone. "Police will be here any moment."

Sung Gyu and L looked at Sung Yeol in pure shock. "Get on the car." Sung Gyu said firmly to L.

"But-"

"Now!"

In the midst of chaos, no one noticed that Hoya already left.

Hoya ran to Jillian's room and banged on the door. "Jillian! Are you in there? They say there's a werewolf in the mansion and we need to leave now!" Hoya warned but received no reply.

He growled in frustration and kicked down the door. The door flung open to reveal an empty room. His eyes widened with panic and he looked around frantically for a shadow. He noticed that the back door was open so he ran out to the backyard. Beyond the backyard was a small forest the size of a football field.

That's when Hoya saw it. Footprints.

Footprints shaped like a wolf's paw prints trailed into the forest. Fear clouded his heart but he shook it off, following the trail of marks. He walked into the forest as quietly as he could and stopped when he heard a voice.

"Hide here, I'm not sure when the police will come but one of those idiots must have reported this." Kimberly.

Hoya hid behind a tree and peeked out. A large wolf, the size of a small car was standing in front of Kimberly. She had silver fur that glowed and grey eyes that were almost clear. She had sharp claws and bared her teeth but she was the most beautiful sight Hoya has ever seen.

Hoya made the mistake of stepping on a fallen branch and made Kimberly perked up in alarm.

"I know you're there, come out before I make you."

Hoya raised both his hands and stepped out of his hiding place. The wolf gave a growl and snarled at him when he came out.

"You're a werewolf." Hoya stated calmly, making Jillian back up in shock. He looked back at Kimberly. "Keep a werewolf has been illegal for the last century."

"She's not dangerous." Kimberly snapped at him. "You made them dangerous."

"The lives that were lost-"

"Mankind hunted us." Jillian's voice came from the wolf. "You forced us to fight back, my father died to a silver bullet when I was a cub! You forced us to kill!"

"I- I don't mind." Hoya said quietly. "I like you."

"I've been on this planet for a hundred years, and that's a hundred too long for love." Jillian growled. She turned and raced into the forest, not looking back.

Hoya wanted to race after her but Kimberly blocked him. "You'll put her in danger if you follow her." Kimberly said calmly. "I've been alive longer than her, and I've never seen a love so pure, yet so forbidden."

Hoya was standing there, shocked, while Kimberly walked back to the mansion.

"I will tell my father about this!"

Rinny was yelling at the police officers, who were bowing and apologising. Turns out, her father is Head of the Police Department and what she says goes. "My friends were all having fun! It must be a prank call!"

Woo Hyun, Sung Gyu and L were holding Dong Woo, Sung Jong and Sung Yeol back in the mansion while Rinny dealt with the police.

"What are you doing? What about the werewolf?" Sung Yeol hissed.

"We- We can't have the police here." L said weakly and earned a glare from Sung Yeol.

"What? It's not like you have a criminal record." Sung Jong rolled his eyes but Sung Gyu and L went quiet. "Do you?"

"It's just how we're born." Sung Gyu sighed and looked out the window to see the police retreating. "I'll explain it later."

After Rinny finished up with the police and Kimberly and Hoya came back from the backyard, they all sat down in the living room.

"We're vampires." Sung Gyu started, gesturing to L and himself. "We escaped the government and is currently on the run. It's been decades since and we've changed many identities but they're still on our trail."

Hoya was quiet while everyone else gasped. "What about you?" Hoya suddenly said, looking over at Kimberly. "Are you a vampire too?"

"No, I'm a feeder. We offer blood to vampires in exchange for time." Kimberly explained. "We take time away from vampires, since they're immortal, and we get to live longer. We are also the only known species that can survive a vampire's bite."

"I am the first son and heir to the Great Kim Family." Sung Gyu announced. "And he is the second son of the Great Kim Family and my half brother."

"So..." Sung Yeol looked around the room and sighed. "What now?"

"We would have left but..." Sung Gyu looked at L. "He wanted to stay."

"For 1017 years of my life, I've never had friends." L said weakly. "I've only had Sung Gyu, and sometimes fans, but they died. I learned to appreciate the limited time with mortals, and I don't want to lose you guys."

"So, out of curiosity, how old are you?" Sung Yeol asked Sung Gyu.

"1208." Sung Gyu replied with a shrug. "L will die if he gets into an accident because he doesn't heal, he's half human and half blue-blooded."

Rinny, who was on the phone for the whole conversation, hung up and looked over at the group who were comforting L. "Sorry to interrupt but..."

"You're under arrested, Kim Sung Gyu and Kim Myung Soo." Kimberly announced as the doors of the mansion broke open and men dressed in black armour charged in. "The two escaped vampires have been detained." Kimberly said into the walkie-talkie while men grabbed Sung Gyu and L.

Sung Gyu easily knocked the first three man to the floor. "You! We trusted you with this!" He screamed as more men grabbed him.

Kimberly smirked as she lifted her shirt. A tattoo of a red rose vibrated against the pale skin of her waist. Sung Gyu's eyes widened and he went limp, letting the men throw him into the back of their car.

L was still struggling against the men's hold and his friends were trying to make way through the men crowded around him but failed. Kimberly showed him a badge and a smirk. But the smirk was more forced this time.

"I, Kimberly Marie, FBI agent, have arrested Kim Myung Soo and Kim Sung Gyu, the two escaped vampires." Kimberly said into the walkie-talkie before L was thrown into the car with Sung Gyu.

Sung Gyu leaned against the wall of the car while L tried to knock open the door.

"Hyung! Help me! If we get to the protection centre, we'll get executed!" L exclaimed as he let another blow at the door. "Hyung!"

"She killed him..." Sung Gyu muttered.

L looked back at Sung Gyu, who was lying on the floor and in a trance. "What? Who killed who?"

"The feeder of the red rose..." Sung Gyu sat up and stared at L with wide eyes. "She killed Father."
