The Plan

Chapter 1: The Plan

"I can't believe you three are going to leave us," I say between tears.

"It's only for a few years," Bo says sitting down her bags.

"And we'll all be back before you know it," Shawn finishes.

I slowly nod and look at over at Katherine, Raven, and Rose. Katherine was hugging and crying into Raven's shoulder, while Rose was fighting back tears.

"Where are y'all going?" I ask still looking at my other three friends.

Bo and Shawn both looked down at the ground and shifted.

I looked from one to the other. I put my hands on my hips and said, "Fine, don't tell me. But you know I have ways of finding things out."

Shawn glanced up, "We're going to Banmna."

I didn't understand the last word he said because he mumbled real quietly, "What was that you said?"

"I said 'We're re going to Baghdad'." Shawn stated looking me straight in the eye.

"WHAT?! You can't go there! That's where the worst of it is!" I screamed.

Raven, Katherine, and Rose heard me scream and come over to Shawn, Bo, and me.

"What's wrong?" Raven asked pushing away Katherine's hug.

"You three are going to Baghadad!" I said angerly.

"Yeah, we um. We was gonna tell you sooner but, we know how you are," Katherine said sliding behind Raven and Rose.

"So, what, everyone knew but me! I had a right to know." I said walking away from the group. I sat looking at the clock count down to Bo, Shawn, and Raven's flight. I looked around the airport, people bustling about, luggage scraping against the floor, shoes clicking, people talking, and a constant dinging of flights being called. After a few minutes I calmed down and walked back over to the group.

"Hey, Hazen, we're sorry. We should have told you," Bo said as soon as I got back to the group.

"Y'all should have told me, but right now that doesn't matter."

The last hour we had together we spent it reminising and talking about all the fun things we would do when we were all together again.

"Flight 495 to Baghadad now boarding." said a voice over the airport intercom.

We all got up and hugged each other. Shawn, Bo, and Raven boarded the plane and flew off. Then Rose, Katherine, and I went home.

Nothing spectacular happend over the two years Raven, Bo, and Shawn were gone. Until one day i got a call from Shawn.

"Hey, Hazen, tell everyone that we're getting on a plane and are on our way home!" Shawn said excitedly, but there was something in his voice that seemed strange---but I shrugged it off. I got off the phone with Shawn and called all our friends.

We organized a party and waited for them to show up. After an hour or two a car shows up.

"Quick, everyone hide!" Katherine yells. Everyone hides, no one moves. Someone opens the front door, and turns on the lights. Everyone jumps up and yells, "SURPRISE!"

Shawn and Raven jump back startled and they laugh. Everyone runs up and hugs them, Raven actually hugged people and didn't shove anyone away except for Creepy Steve. After the party started and everyone started having fun, I noticed that Bo wasn't here. I decided that she must have went home to rest and be with her family; but to make sure I went over to where Shawn was chatting with a guy that went to school with us.

"Shawn, where's Bo? Did you and Raven drop her off at home?"

Shawn looked over at Raven and then back at me. "Um, Hazen, hold on a second." Shawn ran over to Raven and they talked for a minute. Shawn got up on the coffee table and hollered, "Everyone, hey! I need your attention, please." Everyone stopped talking and looked at him. "Some of you may be wondering where Bo is. Well the thing is, there was a solo mission and Bo volunteered for it. Well something went wrong and we lost communication with her. We sent teams to look but we found nothing, so it was classified as MIA. It's been three weeks since she went missing." Shawn stepped down from the coffee table abd walked over to me.

"So, she's gone? My best friend since third grade is gone?!" I ask trying not to break down.

Shawn put his hand on my shoulder, "Bo may not be dead. She's a fighter, won't go down without a fight."

I nod my head, behind Shawn and in the hallway I see Rose, Katherine, and Raven whispering. Shawn and I join them.

"Hey, what are you three talking about?" I ask.

The three of them exchanged looks.

"Well, Katherine and I were thinking," began Rose, "that we could go and find Bo. But Raven doesn't think it's a good idea."

"I agree with Raven, do you know how stupid that is?!" Shawn asked angerly.

"So, Bo is our best friend and she needs us," Katherine said.

"But, there's no way for you to get across seas," inquired Raven.

My eyes lit up and I excitedly said, "I know how to fly a plane! I took flying lessons while y'all were gone."

"See, we can do this," Rose said.

Shawn shook his head and asked, "And where excatly are you going to get a plane?"

I smiled and looked at everyone individually, "Well, we break into the military base and steal a plane of course."
