Chapter 8: Facility
I slowly peeled open my eyes. The bright, white light only intensified my throbbing headache. When my eyes adjusted, I looked around; I was in a pure white room. I was lying on a bed with white sheets, everything was white, even my clothes. I looked to my left, the whole wall was a mirror, knowing it was a one-way glass.
Suddenly, it hit me. I was alive! I had been shot in the head and I was alive! I racked my brain trying to figure out how.
"Maybe I'm bullet proof," I thought out loud.
"Actually, you're immortal and indestructible," a voice echoed through the room.
"So, I can't die?" I asked.
"No, not that we know of." answered the voice.
I paced around the small room. "How long have I been out?"
"Eighteen hours."
"Where are my friends?"
"I can not answer that."
I sighed and sat down on the bed. "Another question-"
"No further questions," the voice cut in.
"One more." I pleaded. I took the silence as a yes, "Am I going to be trained as a super soldier?"
"Yes."
I laid back on the bed and stared at the white ceiling. After a while someone knocked on the door, I jumped up into sitting position. A blonde-haired lady walked in, behind her a guy looked like a body builder, and guess what! That's right, they're both wearing white. She stopped in front of me.
"Hello," she looked down at her clipboard, "Hazen. I'm Doctor Griffin and that man is Norcom." she smiled sweetly, showing her pearl white teeth.
"Hey," I waved and smiled back. "What am I doing here? Where are my friends? And how did you all know that we have abilities?"
Dr. Griffin stuck up her pointer finger and wagged it in front of my face saying, "One question at a time."
"Fine. First question-" I began before she rudely interrupted me.
"Not here. We have to go to a special room." Dr. Griffin said way too happily.
I looked between the Dr. and the body builder. "Um, I'd rather stay here."
"You have to come with me." she said sternly. Norcom stepped forward and cracked his knuckles.
"I think I'll go!" I squeaked.
I hopped off the bed and followed Dr. Griffin out into the hall. Norcom followed behind me. We walked down the hall a little ways until we stopped at a door. The door had a retina scan, Dr. Griffin had the machine scan her right eye and the door clicked open. I walked into the room, there was a long desk and a chair on each side. Dr. Griffin sat down, so I sat across from her. Norcom had stayed outside and was probably guarding the door. Dr. Griffin flipped through the papers on her clipboard. "So, it says here that you can't die."
"That's what they tell me."
She looked up at me, her blue eyes staring into my soul. I shuddered.
"Why do you think you can't die?" she asked.
"Where are my friends?" I countered.
"I'll be asking the questions." she stood up and walked behind me. She placed both hands on my shoulders; I tensed. "Why are you immortal?" Dr. Griffin's nails dug into my flesh. I squirmed trying to get away but she had a death grip on me.
"I don't know!" I cried through gritted teeth.
I felt one of her hands leave my shoulder. A second later, a needle was being pushed into the side of my neck. I struggled but Dr. Griffin wouldn't let me move. Everything started to become blurry, I felt drowsy. My head swayed side to side, until finally I slumped in my chair.
A bright light pushed through my eye lids. I opened them up and found myself in another white room. I tried to sit up but found that I was strapped to a table; my wrists, ankles, and torso were strapped down. I started to panic, hypervintalting, heart pounding in my ears, I fought against the restraints. The door flung open, a tall, dark haired man came in. He was wearing all white, including a lab coat.
"Hello, my name is Doctor Minus," he said in a deep voice.
"Why is everything white?" I ask looking around,
He walked over to me, "Everything is white because colors spark emotions."
I opened my mouth to say something but he raised his hand silencing me.
"No more talking. I have to conduct a few tests and talking distracts me. We don't was to kill you now do we?" he chuckled to himself.
Dr. Minus pulled out a least twenty syringes, each one looked like it had a different liquid . He went and picked up one, he flicked it and made his way back to me. I started struggling again. He held down my left arm and injected the liquid in me. My whole arm went numb, spreading through the rest of my body. I could feel him inject more liquids, my body began burning. Everything was blurry, it was harder to breathe, and I could hear nothing. I began to shudder until I lost consinious. I died....again.
