Making Friends

Chapter 5: Making Friends

Steve crumbled to the ground in a heap. My mouth fell open, everyone stood there shocked. One of the guys from the other group was the first to react; he picked up Steve and slung him over his shoulder. Bullets wizard around us snapping everyone out of the shock. We booked it down the hall making a right. Upon making the turn there were three guards pointing their guns at us. Raven charged one of the guards, pushing him to the ground. The other guards began firing their guns at us, it was difficult to dodge the bullets in the small hallway. I heard a scream, I looked to my right to see the girl from the other group down on the ground. She was trying to stop the her left leg from bleeding, Bo ran over to her to help.

"Pull the bullet out!" the girl screamed.

Bo dug through the hole in the girl's leg and gently pulled out the bullet. The girl ripped off the left sleeve of her brown shirt and tied it around her leg. Bo helped her up and supported most of her weight. By the time all that had happened Raven had taken down the two other guys.

"We need to get out of here!" I yelled. Everyone started running down the hall again. At the end of the hall there was a door. Next to the door was a small keypad, it had a red light at the top.

"I'll take care of the keypad." someone said from behind me. He walked up to the keypad and started pushing numbers. He had blond hair and deep blue eyes. He was wearing a light blue Skillet shirt, blue jeans, and around his neck he wore a cross necklace. I think Steve said his name was Cainen. After a few seconds the red light turned lime green. Cainen threw open the door and everyone ran outside. The bright light was very blinding but I managed to make it to the nearest Humvee. I began looking for the key as Bo put the injured girl in the back seat. I glance in the back and saw Raven and Shawn stuffing Smith in the very back of my Humvee. Rose and Cainen hopped in and behind them a guy with black hair and beautiful gray eyes jumped in. Bo got in the passenger seat and I started the car, after finding the keys in the glove-box. The other seven of the group all got in an identical Humvee.

Suddenly some guards burst through the door and immediately starting firing their guns at us. Luckily the windshield was bulletproof, I stomped of the gas pedal and smashed through the gate. I drove for an hour straight, the car was quiet except for Cainen and Rose talking and the occasional grunt from Smith. I constantly looked in the rear view mirror to make sure that the others were behind us and to be sure that no one else was following us. I saw a Walmart sign and turned into parking lot, Raven pulled up beside me. Rose, Raven, Shawn, Cainen, Katherine, Bo, and I think Lucy, Jason, Ryan, and Benedict all got out to stretch and talk. I walked over to Raven's Humvee and opened up the back door. Steve was lying down across the back seat while some guy was changing the bandage on Steve's chest.

The guy looked at me and I saw sadness and worry in his brown eyes. "I'm almost done and then you can talk to him."

I nodded my head and turned back toward the group. Rose, Cainen, Raven, Shawn, and....Ryan were all talking to each other. While, Katherine, Bo, Lucy, Lucy, and Jason were talking. Benedict was standing bu himself, he was watching everyone. You could even say he was studying them.

I turned back to the Humvee. The guy was putting the blood soaked bandage in a bag and making sure Steve was comfortable. He crawled out of the backseat and stood next to me.

"I replaced the bandage and examined the wound. It looks pretty bad, he needs a hospital."

"We can't go to the hospital. They know Steve got shot, they'll be guards around all the hospitals near here: plus they're going to alert hospitals to keep a look out for us. So, no hospitals." I commanded.

I nodded, "Thank you.....um."

"Harry, the name's Harry." he extended his right arm.

I shook his hand, "Hazen, thanks for what you did."
