"What do you mean, you are in Willow Lake?" I asked upset. "I got some unfinished business to take care off" He said. "Oh, like what? Checking up on the girls?!" I asked and he gave me an entire speech about letting it go and not to mention them again. Result, we hung up. "Great family" I said to myself since Caleb was gone as well. I sat down on the couch, then the thought that Ezra had something with my sister came back and I never got the answers I wanted.

I decided to text Aria and to ask what she was doing. She answered that they were trying to have a family dinner without a fight for once. I wished her good luck, before putting my phone into my pocket and grabbed my keys and went to Ezra's apartment and knocked. He opened, not knowing it was me. "Lau-" He started, but I rushed past him inside saying "I want answers!" I said and crossed my arms in front of my chest.

He sighed and closed the door. We sat down on the couch and I looked at him "What did you mean with you screwed up?" I asked him. "I cheated on her, she found out, but gave me a second chance. Things never were the same again" He said, I could see he was about to cry. "Like you cheated on Aria? If she finds out you kissed me, she's... she's gonna drop us both. She is never gonna talk to me again! I can't let that happen! She is my best friend, we're almost like sisters!" "Calm down! If you don't tell her, I won't!!" He said and I sighed, when my phone started buzzing. I was scared immediately. "What's up with you and Aria jumping every time your phone makes a sound?" Ezra asked. "Ehm..It's nothing" I said and grabbed it, seeing it was a call. I was relieved since A never called.

"Hey, what's up?" I answered it. "This is driving me crazy! My sister, my dad, my mom! All pretending like nothing's wrong! Something is wrong! Something's really wrong!" Mike said upset. "Woo, calm down!" I told him, but he was far from calm. "I can't! This makes me go crazy! I can't just sit there like nothing is wrong! They are all lying to themselves when they think that that's normal!" He almost yelled into the phone. "Please calm down, you're scaring me!" I told him and Ezra, gave me signals that he will go to the bathroom. I nod and got my attention back on Mike. "I can't calm down! I can't take this any longer!!" He said and I could hear how things fell to the ground. "Mike! Whatever you are doing, stop it! It's not worth it!" I told him, but I heard glass breaking by now. "MIKE!" I almost yelled into the phone, then the connection was gone.

"Ezra, I gotta go!" I yelled and ran out of his apartment, jumped into the car, which Aaron had left for me since he took the train to Willow Lake. I drove to the Montgomery house as fast as I could and parked, then went to the back to climb up the tree and to Mike's window. I was in luck, because it was open. Mike was sitting against the door of his room, desperate. "Mike" I said as I was climbing in. He looked up, got onto his feet and wrapped his arms around me. He then started crying. I placed my hands on his back, below his shoulder and was just there for him. I let him calm down before I spoke up "Mike..." Was all I got out. He loosen the hug and I removed my hands from his back and placed them on his cheeks, wiping the tears away.

"I can't take this any longer!" He said and I nod "I know how you are feeling. Let me tell you a story" I said and lead him to the bay window, where we sat down next to each other. "Before I moved here and lived in Willow Lake it was my mom, my dad, my brother, my sister and I. My parents were so in love, but then my sister and I got into trouble over and over again. They started fighting and fighting, so my sister and I basically lived at the houses of our best friends. That was until my sister died, it was an accident. My parents weren't talking by then. One day came home in the morning from a sleepover with my best friends, when my brother showed me a letter. It was from my parents. It said that Aaron is old enough to take care of himself and that he shouldn't worry and live a life without drama. They thought that they would save him from that, if they just leave. We haven't heard from them since and that was two years ago" I said and took a deep breath, looking at Mike "I know it is hard and it will take some time, but you will be okay with it. It just becomes normal" "That might have been so in your case, but this is completely different! Also you know why your parents left. Why they were fighting! I don't know anything! No one ever tells me anything!" He said and became mad again. I held his face and looked him in the eyes, hoping it would calm him down.
