New Year's Eve

We need some light-heartedness here! 

An hour left 'til midnight, an hour left until it's officially the New Year. The capitals, being the teens that they were, were having a big party in New York City in one of the many hotels and were waiting to see the big ball drop. In said hotel, there was dancing, lights, snacks, drinks, confetti, balloons, and talking. Each capitals had goals in minds that they wanted to accomplish by the end of the party; some wanted to get that special New Year's kiss, some wanted to greet the New Year with a fresh start, and some- well mostly Amanda- wanted the satisfaction of finally being able to stay up until midnight for once instead of falling asleep five minutes until the appointed time. 

Over by the snack table, Amanda was loading up on all the sugary foods she could get her hands on, feeling herself draining fast. However, the 16-year old was determined to make it to midnight and not end up asleep in a chair like last year. Emma, her cousin, was a bit concerned though. "Amanda, do you really need all that stuff?" she questioned. 

"Yes!" Amanda declared. "I gotta make it to midnight Em. If I don't, it'll be just like last year, and I am not having a repeat of that." 

"You gotta admit that those stars Amelia drew on the top of your head were pretty funny," Emma chuckled. 

"Ha, ha, ha! Well that's not going to happen this year! This year I'm staying up and nothing can stop me!" 

Over by a table, Amelia, Allison, and Chen were chatting with one another when Aurel came up and kissed Allison on the cheek, making the french teen giggle. "Aurel, you still 'ave to wait for another 'our," Allison reminded Aurel with a smile. 

"Aww Allison, I can't vait that long," Aurel complained. "Come on, just one more?" 

"Non," Allison stated. "You can wait for another 'our." 

Aurel pouted. "Vhy must you make me vait?" 

"Love is patient mon amour~." Allison winked. 

Aurel sighed but nodded and walked off. 

"Allison, don't you think this is a little ridiculous, aru?" Chen suggested. 

"Yes, I agree with Chen," Amelia agreed. "I think you're being a little ridiculous with this whole "kissing at midnight" nonsense." 

"Kissing at midnight signifies strong bonds for zhe new year," Allison explained. "I don't mind getting a kiss on zhe cheek but I want to wait for midnight, when it will be zhe most special." 

Amelia and Chen rolled their eyes. 

Near the punch bowl, Rose and Naomi were talking to each other about their New Year's resolutions; "This year I pran to finish up arr of the anime series that I had yet to finish from this year," Naomi stated. 

"Oh really?" Rose asked. "Even that scary one Corpse Pa-" 

"Uh, maybe not that one," Naomi interrupted. "I mean, I might just save that for Harroween or something rike that." 

"Okay~," Rose smiled. "You wanna hear my resolution?" 

"Sure Rose-chan, what is it?" 

"It's to try and study a little more for some of my tests." Rose then leaned in closer to Naomi to whisper the next part; "I'm thinking of asking Kaito if he would help me a bit." 

"Werr Kaito is one of the smartest kids in schoor. It onry makes sense to ask him for herp." 

"Si." A blush slowly appeared on Rose's face. "And that's not the only reason." 

"Oh, I see." Naomi reached into her book and pulled out her list of Friends Who Have Officially Been Paired list and crossed out Rose's name, which was right below Naomi's, which had been recently crossed off as well. 

On the other side of the room, Katrina was leaning against a wall drinking a bit of water when Steve came over and leaned against the wall as well, trying to be all cool and suave. "Hey Katrina," he greeted with a grin. "Having a good time." 

"To be honest, not really," Katrina admitted. "I'm probably going to leave in a little bit." 

"Woah, woah, you don't need to do that," Steve quickly stated. 

"And vhy's that?" Katrina questioned. 

"Well," Steve said with a bit of a cocky smirk. "You'll miss on the New Year's tradition of kissing someone at midnight." 

Katrina rolled her eyes. "I'll pass, thank you." 

That's when Victor noticed Steve talking to Katrina. He and Steve had been rivals in trying to win the young tsundere girl's heart. It was a playful rivalry and the two agreed that they would remain friends after whoever won Katrina's heart. Until then though, all bets were off. 

Noticing his love rival moving in, Victor quickly ran to the snack table, grabbed a piece of cake, and then casually went over to Katrina and Steve. "Oh, hi Katrina, Steve," Victor greeted, giving Steve a quick glare before turning back to Katrina. "Katrina, I saw this last bit of cake on the snack table and thought that you might like some." 

"Oh, uh, danke," Katrina said, taking the cake from Victor. 

Steve quickly reacted though when he saw that Katrina didn't have a fork and grabbed one, bringing it back over for Katrina. "I believe you'll need this in order to have that cake." 

"Oh, uh, danke," Katrina said, taking the fork from Steve. 

Steve smirked and Victor growled, with both teens glaring at each other when they thought Katrina wasn't noticing. (She noticed though). 

Leaving the dance floor, Natie went to sit down at the table where Chen was now the only person sitting at it now. As soon as she sat down, Damien and Zachary went over to talk to her, trying to know if the Russian girl had made a decision on the matter they had proposed to her. 

"Hello boys," Natie greeted. 

"So Natie, it's about half an hour until midnight," Zachary reminded her. 

"Have you made a decision on the matter?" Damien questioned. 

"As a matter of fact I have," Natie stated, fixing herself up. 

Zachary and Damien beamed up when they heard this. 

"And?" They both hopefully asked. 

"My decision is this; I will not be kissing either of you at midnight." 

The two teens in questions were both shattered at the news. They both broken-heartedly told her that they respected her decision and sulked away to the snack table to drown their sorrows in food. 

"That was a bit harsh don't you think?" Chen questioned Natie. 

"I just do not feel that way about either of them," Natie stated. "Besides, it's not like you were planning on kissing anyone at midnight either, remember?" 

"Because it's not New Year's for me yet, aru!" Chen replied.

"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0! Happy New Year!" Everyone cheered as confetti and balloons rained down on the room. Aurel and Allison were seen locking lips in the center of the chaos while Amelia and Tye settled with just giving each other a brief kiss on the cheek; Chen and Natie found themselves sitting at the table and having a water toast to another year; Naomi and Rose were giggling as they watched Katrina struggling to get Victor and Steve to leave her alone; and poor Amanda was just a minute shy from reaching it to midnight. (At least Emma got a kiss from Cleto). 

As the New Year rang in, a certain Vietnamese boy walked over to the sleeping Amanda and sighed. "Well, you almost made it," He told her before giving her a kiss on her cheek. "Happy New Year."
