The sunlight spilling across the bed from the window is what woke me up the next morning. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was past ten o'clock in the morning, my internal alarm clock normally had me up around six thirty every morning regardless, but I guess with all that had happened the last few days I just needed extra sleep.

I browsed my phone for a few minutes checking messages and social media before climbing out of bed, the floor was ice cold beneath my feet, we really needed to get that heat checked on.

As I stepped out of my bedroom into the hallway I could heard the sound of music coming from downstairs, I could also smell the sweet sweet aroma of the heavenly juice I loved so dearly, coffee, and bacon; Devlin must have been up and making breakfast.

I entered the kitchen to find her dancing around in her pajamas to "Beast of Burden" while she was stirring around eggs in a pan on the stove.

I watched her for a few seconds, she was always so carefree; well aside from last night anyway, I wished so badly I could be like that.

She must have caught sight of me because she whirled around.

"Avery! You scared the shit out of me! Say something next time!"

"Sorry Dev, making breakfast?" I asked and she nodded.

"Bacon and eggs, or an omelette if you prefer, I got some onions and peppers diced up."

"Sounds great." I said pouring myself a cup of coffee and stirring in the cream and sugar.

"I'm surprised I slept as late as I did." I commented taking a seat at the table and a sip of my coffee.

"I'm not," Devlin said turning down the bluetooth speakers her phone was connected to, "You had a rough day yesterday, your body is tired."

I nodded, she was right, I was tired.

"Here ya go." She said placing an omelette in front of me, it was topped with cheese and looked as delicious as it smelled.

"So, what time are you meeting up with Dr. Stevens?" I asked taking a bite, another successful win on her cooking expertise.

"Around noon, he's taking me to lunch and then to see a movie."

"Oh yeah? What movie?"

"No idea yet, I'm not even sure what's playing, but he's supposed to be on call tonight so we'll see how the night goes."

She took a seat across from me and began pouring ketchup on her eggs.

"You are a strange creature." I observed wrinkling up my nose at her choices in food.

"Hey, you like what you like, and I like what I like. Speaking of, have you heard from either of the two suitors in your life?"

I rolled my eyes.

"Harry is not a suitor."

"Might as well be, he likes you, you know it."

"He does not! I'm the only person he can really talk to about his whole situation Dev, he feels comfortable is all."

"Mhmm, I know about it, you don't see him pawing at me."

"He is not pawing!"

"Okay, okay!" She threw her hands up in surrender.

"All I know is I caught him yelling at you in a jealous rage yesterday because of Tristan."

"It wasn't a jealous rage.." I said rolling my eyes at her, again.
