The next morning I woke up stiff. My neck, my shoulders, everything felt stiff from the rough nights sleep I had. Tossing a turning and to no avail catching very few hours of peaceful sleep without invading dreams of Harry and Tristan eluding my subconscious. I wanted a break, but, I knew that was asking far too much.
I got out of bed and stretched out my sore and aching limbs, when my eye caught sight of the time I almost hollered, it was almost one in the afternoon. How had I slept so late?
Then came a knock at the door and I froze.
"Avery?" Devlin's voice called out and I felt my shoulders sag in relief.
I opened my bedroom door and there she was dressed in a pair of Nightmare before Christmas scrubs and holding a carton of Ben and Jerry's and two spoons.
"You never sleep this late, and you're wearing your puffy pants, I was right to bring you ice cream." She said handing me the carton and I stepped out of the way for her to come inside my room.
"Wanna talk about it?" She asked taking a seat on the bed and crossing her legs, popping the top off the ice cream and spooning out some.
"Not particularly." I said and she shrugged.
"Okay, we won't then."
I took a seat on the bed beside her and she offered me the carton which I took a spoonful of.
"How was your night?" I asked and she smiled.
"It was really nice actually. We went for dinner and then came back to his house and watched movies."
"No sex?" I questioned playfully.
"No, no sex. Jeez Ave we don't have sex every time we're together."
I snorted and started laughing at her, the bewildered pinched look on her face.
"I know, I'm just messing with you." I said shoving her playfully.
"Right. How was your night?" She asked and I stopped laughing and sighed.
"It was-"
"We don't have to talk about it, really." Devlin said taking in my features and I nodded, thankful she didn't press the matter further.
She was such a good friend, if I didn't want to talk about something, she never made me or got upset when I didn't.
"Well," She said taking a last bite of ice cream, "I gotta get back to work, I'm on break right now, but I forgot my lunch here and so I decided to come back and get it and noticed you were still in bed." She said getting up from the bed heading towards the door.
"Hey Dev." I called and she turned to look at me.
"Thanks."
"No problem." She said shooting me a wink and then heading out the door and down the stairs.
I waited until she was gone before getting dressed, not putting much effort into my appearance today despite seeing Harry.
The thought of seeing Harry made my stomach feel queasy and my head swim. I could still feel the sting in my chest from his harsh words.
But he said he's sorry.
Yeah, okay, we'd see how sorry he was.
About an hour later I found myself finishing up the dishes and the last load of laundry when came a knock at the door.
Harry.
I headed for the door and when I opened it I found Harry standing in the hallway dressed in a pair of black jeans, his boots, and a colorful button up tee shirt, so drastically different than what he normally wore. His messy wild hair was pushed back with his sunglasses that sat on top of his head. His face was, as usual, unreadable.
