Selene's POV
As the wind blew the branches around me, a sketch of my surroundings flashed across my mind.
When I was young, I got in a fight with a Rogue I had come across. I challenged him- and won. The Rogue was dead, but it cost me something in return: my eye sight.
I was covered in scars and blind. My body shaped around it, though, and now sounds created pictures in my mind of everything around me.
Swaying trees and small mice moved and cause little noises, which echoed off the masses around them- giving me a picture of the land I stood on.
"Sister," my brother called, leaping over a dead tree. I faced him, feeling the wind play with my fur.
"What's up, Chris?" I asked. He took a deep breath.
"You disappeared, so I got worried." I shook out my coat.
"I'm fine- always am." He chuckled. "Anyways, I herd Corria was making a trip into our land," I said. "Is anyone going to be keeping an eye on her?"
"You and I are to keep an eye on her and Zepitia," Chris answered. "That's another reason I came looking for you."
I nodded. There was always a second reason. I began walking towards the meeting area. Once I recognized the lay out, I began running.
Living with being blind for ten years gave a lot of free time to memorize the land.
Chris kept up with me, ever watchful of me.
The could smell them before my mind saw them from the noise they made.
"Thought they would be here by now," Zep muttered, relaxing into a sitting position.
"Chill," Corria returned, sighing. I felt her tail move, and I saw she noticed our advance. "Here they are."
"Greetings," Chris began. I had been since we were very young that Corria had seen us. Neither of them recognized us.
I sat down and waited as they spoke. Feeling her look at me, I knew Corria was trying to figure out who I was.
"What happened to you?" she asked. I stood and shook out my coat again- the noise helped me check the area for any more Rogues.
"I got in a fight," I answered, my voice bored. That fight was long over with.
"Selene?" Zep asked, finally recognizing me by my voice. I nodded. "Wha-"
"The Rogue took her eye sight," Chris supplied when I refused to look at them. Chris knew I knew exactly where they were, but I didn't care to have them know.
"A Rogue did that? Any Rogue in these lands made an agreement not to attack any pack wolves," Zep said.
I shrugged and retorted, "that happened years ago, and it was a Rogue who had slipped through Raven's land to ours."
"Oh." My hackles lifted slightly with my annoyance. I hated it when people pitied me- I could handle myself.
"Well, come on," Chris quickly interjected, feeling my annoyance. "Let's get you two to our parents."
I didn't even wait- I just headed back to the house.

Chris' POV
Even in human form her eyes were a hazy green color. Selene Was a fighter through and through. The Doc told us she might never walk again- nothing.
But my sister proved them wrong. She made herself grow stronger and pushed herself past what most wolves could have done- and she was one of our top hunters and fighters.
And of course so was I. I was always by her side- fighting along side her. Being born first, Selene was to become Alpha once Mother stepped down- I was to be her Beta.
I didn't care either. Some thought I would grudge my sister for become Alpha- but I don't. Personally, I think she deserves it for being as strong as she is.
"Chris, what color is the sky?" she asked, her voice soft.
"Grey," I answered honestly. "There's most likely a storm on the way." A small smile touched her lips.
"I thought as much. The wind has picked up quite a bit in the past ten minutes," she murmured. "I wonder what's taking them so long in there."
I shrugged.
"Who knows."

It took two hours for them to stop talking to my parents, but when they walked out, no one looked particularly happy.
"Time to go?" Selene asked, standing from the chair. Corria nodded.
"Yeah, we're done here." My parents came up behind Zep and paused.
"Corria, Zep, please wait downstairs," my mother asked. "We need to have a word with Selene and Chris."
Selene straightened her pose- feeling something big was coming up. Corria and Zep just walked to the stairs.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"There's something killing Rogues out there," Father answered. "Something that died out a long time ago."
I looked down at Selene. She touched her fingers to my wrist. Touch always calmed us both.
"What is it?" Selene demanded. Mother pushed out a deep breath.
"Shape-shifters," she said. "Those who can take on the form of any animal. They supposedly died out when our people first began to shift human.
"But now there ate reports of shape-shifters killing any Rogue they come across," Mother explained.
"According to some rift-raft Rogues," Selene suddenly retorted. "Who knows if Rogues tell the truth?" Selene truly hate Rogues...
"That's why the two of you are going with Corria and Zep."
Selene reacted to our father's words by flinching. She must have known that was coming.
"Why are we going with them? What do you need us to confirm?" I asked, touching Selene's wrist like she had mine. She took a deep breath.
"Corria, Zep, and their friend Colten were attacked by a shape-shifter," Father said. "It killed Colten before they could kill it."
"During the fight the creature changed shapes three times," my mother added.
Selene gave a respectful head bow and began walking away.
Mother gave my father a sad look. I gave my mother hug.
"Don't worry about us," I said with a smile. "We'll be fine."
