Chris' POV
I was worried. We woke to find Selene already up and waiting. So we headed off. Corria showed us the dead shapeshifter body and we had the prof. Now Selene and I were walked back home to report to our parents. She stayed silent. If only I knew what was wrong...
"Welcome back," Jason greeted as we crossed the border. I nodded. "Find anything?" I didn't surprise me that he knew where we were- he was Beta to my mother's pack.
"They are here," Selene said, her voice off. "Double the gaurd on the borders." Jason cocked his head at her. She had no ruling over him. "I spoke to one last night- I know they are going to attack. Question me or trust me."
She wasn't even angry. She just stated a fact and padded away. Jason and I exchanged looks.
"What's going on, Chris?" he demanded. lifted and dropped my shoulders in a wolf shrug.
"I have no clue. Trust her, though. She's never lead us astray before." He nodded and jogged away. I quickly followed after my sister.

Selene's POV
My mother hissed as she stalked around our living room.
"They blame us for things we have never done?!" She snarled to herself and kept pacing.
"Did he tell you anything else?" I was not about to tell them that he told me to remember him- which meant he was going to see me again. I shook my head. "Damn-it."
"From the sounds of it," I murmured, "this is going to happen- and it's going to happen soon. They're taking out the easy Rogues right now. Once those wolves are gone, they are coming after us. Mother, we need to prepare."
I could feel my mother looking me over. She had something bugging her for the past year, I knew that, but what she said next was not what I expected.
"It's time for me to step down." My brother's jaw dropped and I felt my father tense. "It's true. I never wanted Alpha anyways- it's too much. I'm worn these days. And this pack needs someone who will protect us with new ideas and understanding."
Cherry came close and placed her hand on my shoulder.
"My daughter, Selene, I bestow Alpha upon you should you take it. Do you vow to protect this pack in every way you possibly can?" I took a deep breath.
"I do."
I gasped at the sensation that rolled through me. I was stronger in ever way. Alpha aura and power irradiated off me. I was Alpha now. Not my mother- me.
~
I made sure the borders were watched twenty-four-seven. Jason became my third and Chris became Beta. We didn't spend as much time together in the following couple of days- which left me to the free time I had to spend running through unclaimed land.
I was looking into how many Rogues had been killed so far. I only found a few Rogues. That was a bad thing.
As I leapt over a dead tree, taking my normal way home, something dahsed into my path. I dug my paws into the dirt- stopping dead. Standing before me was Rian.
