Chapter 2

I sat at the table in the cafe with Will, Christina, Uriah, and Zeke. Tobias had to work tomorrow since it was Monday and he was going to sleep in today.

"So," Christina started, "what are you and Tobias going to do for Valentine's Day? It is Tuesday, after all. Today's Sunday." She winked. I rolled my eyes, continuing to eat my waffle.

"Christina, you forget. In Abnegation we didn't celebrate Valentine's. We couldn't show affection in public." I took a sip of my orange juice.

I had gotten a chocolate chip waffle with butter and a little bit of maple syrup. I had also gotten orange juice and some bacon.

Will opened his mouth to say something, but decided against it. I mentally thanked him.

Uriah looked at me. "So you and Tobias aren't going to do anything special? Go on a date or whatever?"

I shrugged. "I'll get him a present and all, but I don't know if he wants to go anywhere. We might go to the Ferris wheel though."

"Ooh! That would be romantic! We can go shopping tonight!" Christina squealed. I almost shook my head, but that would selfish if I deprived her of that joy. My Abnegation side had been really showing lately.

"Fine," I grumbled. I suddenly wasn't hungry anymore.

She squealed again.

I got up, and threw away my breakfast. I went back over and quickly said goodbye before going back to the apartment.

Tobias was in the bathroom. The door was slightly cracked, and steam was pouring out. I snuck into the closet and grabbed some clothes. I got dressed in them- a lacey black tank top, and grey skinny jeans with a black sports bra and underwear underneath. I laid on the bed, waiting for Tobias.

He exited a couple minutes later wearing a black cotton tank and black jeans.

He smiled at me, coming over to the bed and sitting beside me. I sat up, kissing him lightly and then pulling away.

"We match," I laughed, looking at his tank top.

He laughed along with me, pulling me closer. I crawled onto his lap and rested my head on his shoulder.

"I have to go shopping with Christina tonight," I groaned.

He kissed my forehead. "Good luck with that."

I sighed, kissing him and then getting up. I grabbed a black blazer from the closet. "I better go. She'll probably want to go to every store in Dauntless."

He nodded, standing up and hugging me. After he slid a tee over his tank top, we walked to Christina and Will's apartment together, holding hands.

"I'm going to go over to Zeke's. He's having a party tonight," he said. I nodded, kissed him deeply, then watched as he walked away.

I knocked on the door, waiting for her.

She came out excitedly, dressed in a plain black dress that reached her knees. She was also wearing sparkly black flats. Her nails were painted dark purple and she had on a bit of blush and lipstick.

Shutting the door, she grabbed my hand and dragged me to the outside world.

We first went to the dress shop.

"This one would look good on you," Christina said, holding up a slim fitting black dress. It had a covering of lace and was sleeveless.

I shook my head.
