Chapter 12: Night of Big Blue

Michael Chain had declared that the race be held on Big Blue, at night. Just outside the city on the highways. Big Blue was once a water planet, back when F-Zero was first invented, there were no cities. There were only islands. Later on they constructed cities for people visiting there for vacation. Ace and Lily were now cruising up to their competition. Michael Chain had arrived with fifteen other members of the Bloody Chain. A sight like this would make the regular pilot cower in fear, but Ace Winters was just determined. "Are you ready Lily?" Ace asked Lily Flyer. "More than I'll ever be," Lily replied. "I want a piece of this guy." The two young pilots had caught up to the members of the Bloody Chain, who were waiting for them as they were cruising too. Michael Chain now drove up to Ace Winters, he was ready to announce the challenge. "Death Race," He declared. "Last team standing wins." "Bring it on," Ace just replied. After he said those words, the race had begun.

The Bloody Chain really wanted to give it to the rookies for letting their leader lose the race at Mute City. Two members, Razor and Scar surrounded the Green Amazone. "Rough him up boys!" Chain hollered at his men. "But let me take the final blow!" Ace wasn't letting anyone kill him in this race, he did a spin-attack and knocked the two away. Lily, on the other hand was trying to do battle with Camo, another member of the Bloody Chain. Camo was grinning as he slammed the Bunny Flash against the side of the road. The Bunny Flash could hold for a while, but not for long. Ace came to her rescue as he rammed Camo from behind and sent the gangster flying into the water. "That's one down," He said to himself. "Only fourteen more to go." Michael Chain noticed Camos departure, he now motioned for four other teammates to stop the rookies. They acknowledged and went after Ace and Lily. As the four surrounded the rookies, another gangster rammed the bunny Flash from behind and sent it spinning. "AAH!" Lily hollered. "HEY!" Ace screamed. He immediately went nuts and took out all four members by spinning rapidly, Ten Left.

Ace braked to where Lily was, the young girl had just gained her machine's control back. "Are you okay?" he asked her. "We can't win this Ace," Lily said exhausted. "We're outnumbered." "Don't give up," Ace replied. "Keep Racing." If only they could do that longer. Ace realized to finish this battle, he needed to stop Michael Chain. His gang members were protecting him. "Lily!" Ace shouted. "Boost and Spin!" Lily saluted Ace in compliance. The rookies initiated their tactic. Both machines spun rapidly and successfully took out four members, with six left counting Michael Chain. However, immediately after they stopped spinning, three gangsters slammed them against the wall. "AAH!" Ace hollered from the force of the impact. His machine only had 45% left of power! "That's it!" He hollered. Ace was like a raging bull as he boosted ahead pass several members. He was now next to Michael Chain himself. He engaged him in a battle, repeatedly side-attacking him. "Stupid Kid!" Michael Chain laughed. "ACE!" Lily screamed. Ace Winters turned back to see Lily getting whacked by the other gang members. How could Ace have been so stupid? He forgot about the other members and Lily!

Michael Chain used this distraction to his advantage. He whacked the Green Amazone and sent it spinning. The force of the hit was so powerful that Ace Winters could not gain control. The Green Amazone smashed a guardrail and crashed out. "NOO!" Lily screamed as she sped up to the wreckage. The girl hopped out of her machine to look for Ace. She found him, he was on the ground with humongous bruises. The Green Amazone was on fire behind him. Lily rushed to his side. "Ace! Ace look at me!" She said helping him up with tears in her eyes. "Stay with me! Stay with me!" The rest of the Bloody Chain had now approached. They stepped out of their machines and surrounded the young couple. One gang member, named Torc, grabbed Lily and pulled her away from Ace Winters. "STOP!" Lily screamed at them. "LEAVE HIM ALONE, HE'S HURT!" "HE NEEDS TO BE TAUGHT A LESSON!" Michael Chain yelled. "THEN YOU'RE NEXT!" Chain hoisted a hurt Ace Winters up by his collar. "You had this coming kid," He smirked. "Sorry that no one will miss you after you're dead. There's no mercy for those who oppose the Bloody Chain!"

The other gang members laughed as Lily screamed louder. Just as Michael Chain was about to deliver the death blow, they all heard wails in the distance. They were police sirens, no doubt. "Michael! It's the Feds! We gotta go!" a member named Delta shouted. No one needed to tell Michael Chain twice. He dropped Ace to the ground and darted to the Wild Boar. Even Torc let go of Lily. "I'll kill you next time!" He shouted to them before speeding away. Lily rushed back to Ace's side as the siren sounds got closer. All Ace could hear were the sirens and Lily saying: "Stay with me Ace, Stay with me!" Then everything went pitch-black.
