"Class, please take your seats," Mr. Stein said as he walked though the doors and sat at his desk. He placed his coffee mug at the corner of his desk, which of course had to be the one nearest to me. The strong aroma whisked me away to a world filled with coffee drinking elves baking scones.
"Ms. Evans?" A voice called, taking me out of my coffee daydream.
I blinked a few times in an attempt to relocate myself. "Yes?" I said.
"I was asking about the answer to number one on the homework," Mr. Stein said,
"Oh right, sorry," I said, pulling out last nights homework. "It's just that your coffee smells so good," I said with a laugh. The rest of the class behind me laughed, and Mr. Stein chuckled.
"And, 9," I said to Mr.Stein, silently praying that my answer was correct.
"Correct. Macy, number two please?" He said, moving his attention along to Macy Williams, who probably didn't have a clue about what homework we were even talking about.
The rest of first period went by fast, with a short lesson on parabolas. Oh how fun.
I met Terra and Joey at our usual meeting spot, which was of course my locker. They were currently in a heated argument about trees or something. I playfully shoved Terra aside as she was talking like I do every day to get to my locker, since they just love to block it. Terra thankfully didn't notice this time and moved away while making her point about ferns.
I opened up my locker and grabbed my history textbook, notebook, and binder- which we don't even use- and decided to join in on their conversation.
"Ferns and trees are completely different," Terra said.
"What's so different about them? Their both green and come out of the ground," Joey said back.
"Not if their potted," I said. Joey sent me a glare, which I laughed at and shrugged. "Well it's true," I laughed.
I checked the time and noticed we only had a minute left until the bell.
"Guys, were gonna be late if you keep on arguing about ferns,"
"I don't care," Terra said. "Whatever it takes to make Joey say that they aren't the same."
"Joey, just say it. I don't want us to be late to French," I pleaded.
"Fine," Joey sighed, "Ferns and trees are completely different."
"Thank you!" Terra said with a sense of accomplishment.
"Not," Joey mumbled with a smirk as we walked into the French room. Thankfully, Terra didn't hear him, or else it would have all started up again.
