Just my luck, there was only one bed in our motel room, so Samantha and I decided to make it an even draw as to who got to sleep on it by playing rock, paper, scissors. Of course, we tied, and we tied on our tiebreaker. Each stinking time we tied! As an end result, we divided the bed into two halves.

"Don't you even think--" Sammantha started to say

"Don't worry. I'm not Carlos." I interrupted

Just the thought of what he had planned to make her do causes me shake with anger. No woman should ever have to endure what Carlos wanted to do. I don't even think a human being could survive that kind of torture.

"Night." Muttered Sammantha as she turned away from me

I think I would've finally had a good nights sleep when Sammantha scared the daylights out of me. She must've been having a nightmare because she kept screaming like she was being attacked. To calm her down I held her in my arms and kept saying calm, soothing words to her, just like I did when my brother had bad dreams.

"It's okay." I kept repeating

Then Sam woke up.

Samantha

Sam's eyes shot open. 'Where the heck am I?' she thought to herself. Quickly, Sam sat up and examined her surroundings. There was the familiar desk that she had spent so much time doing homework on, her old TV that only played VHS tapes, and all the other items that filled her bedroom. Was everything that just happened all-- a dream? If so, then who were those people, and why did it seem so real. All of a sudden a groan came from the other room. Sam quickly ran to investigate, but not before picking up the butter knife that was resting in an empty jar of peanut butter. Hopefully, it was Marcus, but after the dream Sam just had, she wasn't taking any chances. Slowly, she nudged her brother's bedroom door open and her heart leapt at what she saw.

"Marcus! You're alive!" Sam yelled, tackling him

"The crap are you talking about, Sammy?!" He asked as he gently pushed her off him

Unable to control her excitement, Sam explained her whole dream to him, not leaving out a detail. After a few minutes of silence, Marcus said, "Okay, first, that's just creepy. I mean, seeing things from a completely different persons point of view? Freaky!"

"Your getting off subject."

Ignoring Sam, he continued, "Secondly, no one would react like that if they were kidnapped! Well, some would act like that Jade girl, or whoever she was, did at first. I could see myself fighting back if someone tried to kidnap me, but you! You would probably start crying and curl up into a ball on the floor."

"But was any of that stuff true," Sam asked, "like about Dad and stuff? I haven't remembered anything at all about what happened."

"You know the doctor said that it would take time." He reasoned

"Ten years seems like a pretty long time!"

"Only nine years. You're not seventeen yet." Marcus corrected

"Sorry, that dream has me all messed up." Sam answered

Before Marcus could make a sarcastic retort, his phone started going off.

"Speak of the devil," he muttered as he flashed the screen at Sam. It was her shrink, Doctor Gerber, and it would seem they had an appointment in less than ten minutes.

"Oh shoot! We're gonna be late!" Sammantha yelled as she went to get clothes on

After slipping into a short, lilac sundress, Sammantha gave her black hair a little ruffle and went to leave. Marcus, who was already in the car gave her a funny look when she climbed in.
