"Well, hell." Ash muttered more to himself than to me, "He couldn't have just disappeared."
Not even an hour earlier, our little trio had been taveling to our next destination in silence (it was Ashton's turn to drive). It wasn't the typical awkward silence, but rather strangely peaceful. Mainly because Travis can talk about some weird shit sometimes. I mean, seriously, who asks a complete stranger if they're a virgin? Sure, I'm not one, but its not like I'm going to tell him that!
Before Travis could make things more awkward, Ash spoke up and suggested our little game of silence. We had been going on like for about an hour when I realized the same blue car had been following us. Ash noticed it too, but he didn't have a chance to do anything before the damn thing rear ended us so hard we ended up crashing.
Next thing I know, I've been thrown in a tiny room with an unconscious Ash and Travis nowhere to be seen. The rest of the hour was me trying to wake up the other idiot thus leading to our current predicament.
"Are you even listening to me? Gah, that's just like you girls. Always wanna talk, but never wanna listen in return." Ash turned his attentions from me to what was seemingly the only exit from our small prison.
"I'm not sure where you got that idea from, but you've got some issues." I chuckled, "Anywho, this girl wants to find Travis and get out of here."
I absent-mindedly stroked my locket, scanning every corner of the room. It was horrifically simple with only the dirt colored walls as the most interesting aspect. The door was locked. I looked to Ash and said, "You know what they say, 'when one door closes a different, a conveniently placed ventilation shaft opens.' We'll just have to find that shaft."
"I don't think you said that right." Ash started to say, but a familiar scream stopped him. The sheer agony in Travis's voice was enough for my instincts to kick in. It was like my body was shifting into autopilot mode when a wave of memories came rushing back.
Back to those dark days when Grace and I were stuck with our loving 'Uncle.' He had a room like this. It was his quiet room, and if we dared go near it, let's just say we'd have to spend the next day locked in closet that had conveniently weak hinges.
"Ash, this going to be weird, but just go with it." I said, grabbing Ash by his shoulders. I pushed him down on the bed before ordering him to stay.
He wouldn't understand my plan. the door was locked and just by a glance the door didn't seem to be booby trapped. The door itself wasn't anything more than wood, so kicking it down wasn't going to be too hard. It's the weak spot that's important.
"I'm going to guess it's the lock maybe?" I muttered to myself as Ash just sat there, clearly confused about everything.
"HYAHHH!" Breaking down doors isn't any fun unless you have a kickass battle cry. In my head, I'm a ninja assassin on her way to save her friends from an evil ex-boyfriend turned villain. The bad guy definitely had to be a hot look alike to Tom Felton with an eye-patch, but that's a different fantasy...
"What in the hell? How did you do that?!" Ash proclaimed, staring at the open door in awe.
"I've pissed off a lotta people in my lifetime. Important people." I answered. That's when the sounds of Tavis's screams became louder. Just as before, those painful memories came flooding back. I wasn't going to let my Lassie suffer through something as awful as that. No matter what.
