19: Free?

A/n: this is the last chapter?!?! 😭😭😭

Kasey's POV
The notes have gotten less frequent over the past few days, but of course I'm still getting them. And Tanner still hates it.

The most recent one I got said "Watch out. It's happening soon. ~L" and of course, Tanner hasn't left my side.

I don't know what's going to happen soon, but I honestly don't want to wait anymore.

I can't live like this, whatever is going to happen needs to happen soon, and hopefully that ends this whole L thing and then I can go back to living like a normal human being.

I have asked Tanner to give me some space, but he won't. I understand he's just trying to look out for me, but I can't even think when a shirtless Tanner is in my room, when no one else is home.

I shouldn't be thinking about that stuff, but I am very attracted to Tanner Braungardt, and its eating me alive.

Right now Tanner is sitting on my floor playing video games, wearing only basketball shorts. I'm sitting on the end of my bed admiring his concentrated face.

I get up and walk over to him, click the button on his controller that will pause the game. I set the controller down on the tv stand, and sit on his lap. I wrap my arms around his neck.

"Kase what are you doing?" He asks me.

"Shhhhh" I say as I lean in and kiss him. I don't think I want to go all the way, but we haven't had a make-out session since that one time at his house.

He is kissing back, but after a few moments he isn't trying to deepen the kiss or anything.

I pull away. "Tanner, do you not want me?" I ask him, sadness evident in my voice.

Tanner's POV

What does she mean do I not want her?

I've wanted her since the second I laid eyes on her.

"Kasey, of course I want you, but do you want this?" I ask her.

"Tanner, this is the strongest I've ever felt about somebody. I can't deal with us not being intimate because of this whole 'L' thing. What if it doesn't end for weeks, or months?" She says, her voice cracking a small bit. "Tanner I can't deal with seeing you in my room half-naked every single day when I can't even be intimate with my boyfriend!"

"Baby girl," I start with the nickname I know gives her the chills. "We are supposed to be prepared for whatever 'L' is gonna do. Having sex isn't making us prepared..." of course I want to, but I need to make sure she is ready and okay, and that L isn't on her mind. I want her to be focused on us and only us, and have a good time.

She gets off of my lap and starts to walk away, but I grab her hand and pull her back so she is on my lap again.

I rest my forehead against hers. "K, I want you so bad.."

Kasey's POV

"Then prove it to me." I say, smirking.

His eyes turn a darker blue, I'm assuming out of lust.

He stands up, wrapping my legs around his waist, and the second our lips touch he throws his tongue into my mouth.

He lays me onto my bed gently, not breaking the kiss.

I run my hands through his short hair, lightly tugging at the hairs on the base of his neck, earning a groan of pleasure in return.

I smirk into the kiss, feeling accomplished with myself.

He then moved his lips down to my neck. I roll my head to the side giving him more access.

Just as he's about to take off my shirt, the phone rings.

"Ignore it." He says.

"Tanner, what if it's important? Maybe it's something about my dad or sister." I say.

He gives me the puppy dog eyes and I lightly slap his bare chest. He doesn't budge.

I reach out and grab the phone bringing it to my ear.

"Hello?" I ask. Tanner starts to kiss my neck again, trying to tease me. I hold in a moan and I can tell he's trying to make me make sounds.

"Yes, is this Kasey Foster?" A man's voice asks.

"Y-yes.. who's this?" I ask, being afraid that it's something about 'L'. Tanner hears my stutter and stops doing what he was, and looks up at me confusedly.

"This is Officer John Smith, from the Augusta Kansas PD. I am calling to inform you that your shooter, Lexi Hemmings has been found and arrested." The man says.

I jump up, forgetting that Tanner was on top of me so I accidentally head butted him. I mouthed 'oh my god I'm so sorry' to him and he just laughed lightly.

"Are you being serious?" I ask the man on the phone, putting it on speaker.

"Yes, ma'am. You are now safe." He replies.

"Thank you.. s-so much." I say, a happy tear rolling down my cheek.

The reason I'm so happy is because Tanner and I can now have a normal relationship.

"No problem. Have a nice day. Goodbye." He says, hanging up.

I set my phone down. "We're.. free." I say.

Tanner's eyes light up and he pecks my lips happily.
