"Every day I fight for all my future something's. A thousand little wars I have to choose between I could spend a lifetime earning things I don't need. That's like chasing rainbows and coming home empty. And if you strip me, strip it all away. If you strip me, what would you find? If you strip me, strip it all away. I'll be alright." I sang as I fished for my clothes.
I just finished taking a shower, and I was in such a good mood. To add to that, the sun was shining, it was above sixty degrees Fahrenheit (that was surprising since it was the middle of winter), and kids were running around outside. Wren was outside with Abby. Since the day they met, Abby has been so attached to Wren. She would come over, not to see me but, to see Wren and taking him places. Of course, she hung out with me too but, considering I was busy with my job and school and Tyler always taking me away, it was kind of hard to hang out. The only times I actually had day offs would be during the weekend and that only consisted of two short days. That didn't give a lot of fun time for me.
I heard children playing and screaming outside and I smiled. I walked over to the large window in my bedroom, wrapped up in my towel since I only had my underwear and bra on. I've been spending too much time out of the house that I haven't gotten around to doing the laundry. I was going to go in to work today but, Julie had called me earlier and told me to take the day off. I noticed she had a mischievous tone in her voice and I decided to ignore it.
I watched from the window has children played around with their parents and teenagers hung out at the local pool a mile away. Living in New York, you could see everything from your apartment window, especially if you lived on the fifth floor of a seven story building. My eyes grazed down below where children played, I found Wren at the park on the swing as Abby pushed him higher and higher. I wish I could do that with him... I thought sighing.
With school and my job, I couldn't spend much time as I wanted to with my baby brother and it was a bit depressing.
I sighed again and turned back my task, finding clean clothes.
I scan my room, and look around for a pair of shorts and a tank top I had thrown somewhere here in the summer.
My hand began to ache from holding on to my towel, so I check to see if my door was locked and my window was sealed before throwing the white cloth somewhere in my messy room.
But, as soon as I dropped the towel, my door opened and Tyler strayed in with a donut in hand. I gasped and Tyler's eyes shot up. When he realized I had no clothing on, his eyes went wide and his jaw dropped.
"What the hell?!" I shrieked searching my cluttered room for my towel I threw. I couldn't find it so I settled for a big t-shirt and hid behind it.
"How did you get in? Didn't I lock the door?" I asked mostly to myself, trying to cover my body.
Tyler seemed to break out of his shock and he shook his head before answering me. "Y-your front door was unlocked." He said pointing to the front door. "Your room was unlocked too."
"Well don't you knock?"
"I would have but, I thought you'd already been finished."
"You thought wrong." I snapped. "Shouldn't you be outside with Abby and Wren?" I asked annoyed.
"You know, you're cute when you're mad." Tyler smirked, leaning against the threshold.
"Don't you try and be cute with me." I growled. "You shouldn't be here."
"You're hot when you're mad at me. Especially, in your underwear,"
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Out,"
