Chapter 2: Changed (Alex's P.O.V.)
I opened my eyes and groaned by the intense glare of the sunlight peeking through the slightly opened curtains. Why did it have to open right at my eye level? I blinked a couple of times and yawned. I tried to move, but something heavy was holding me back. I looked behind me and saw Daniel, a healthy eighteen year old boy, spooning me from behind with his legs drapped over mine and his face buried in the crook of my neck. Now, wait for it...
"Raindow chicken army... after... me... Alex... kill them with your... butter gun..." he mummbled in his sleep and hugged me even tighter. Yeah, he says weird things in his sleep. I looked at my alarm clock and saw that it was time to get up for the first day of school. I looked back at the sleeping boy and elbowed his rib. "Ah!" he moaned and yawned, looking at me with a disgusted expression. "What the hell was that for?"
"You had a bad dream again last night?" I asked, for the reason why he was sleeping in my bed instead of his own.
"Yeah..." he simply said, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Should I use the bathroom first or you?" I asked, knowing full well what came next. He jumped out of bed and dashed to the bathroom without even replying to me. I sighed, laid back and stared up at the ceiling.
I combed my short black hair back and sighed. Daniel and I moved into this apartment just yesterday after we finally convinced his parents to let us go to school here by ourselves. Well, it was actually mostly my idea. I wanted to move back into my old hometown, where I lived and was raised before my parents abandoned me at Daniel's house thirteen years ago. The only thing that they left back for me was a necklace which was what Ella called my family heirloom. Even though I'd never forgive my parents for abandoning me without any appropriate reason, I still keep it and wear it everyday.
I directed my darkesh blue that could be mistaken for black to the bathroom door and sighed. I don't know what I would gain from coming back here to my hometown, but leaving always made me feel like I left a part of myself behind as well. Ever since I came back, I felt overwhelmed with so much power that I felt an adrenaline rush when we first got here.
I didn't get one thing though. On my pale skin, is the mark of a dragon. On my forearm was a black dragon shaped tattoo. My parents said it was a birthmark, and since I was a kid, I believed it. Obviously when I grew up I realized birthmarks cannot be in the exact shape of a dragon, so I'll assume my parents were into a biker stage in life and pulled me along for it. I must have been really young to not remember the pain of being tattooed.
I got up from the bed and banged on the door of the bathroom.
"Daniel, can you stop putting your make-up on and get the hell out of there already!" I shouted through the door as it opened, revealing a pouting Daniel.
"I'm a man, I don't put make-up on!" he stated, and then rubbed his soft cheeks. "It's lotion..."
"Can you be a wuss when we're not late for school?" I asked with a scowl as he shrugged. He combed his hair back with his hair and smirked mysteriously at me.
"Baby, I'm all man..." he commented as I rolled my eyes at him.
"Dude, that didn't work for you back then, it ain't going to work for you now either." I shoved past him and slammed the door of the bathroom behind me.
After doing my morning routines, I walked up to the full length hall mirror and examined myself. I wore a black baggy T-shirt with metal spikes around the neckline, a skull belt tight below my chest, black ripped up skinny jeans, and thigh-high high-heel black boots with chains dangling around them and belt buckels holding them on. I covered my tattooed forearm with a long leather arm warmer, wearing a black Michael Jackson style hat, skull earrings, my family heirloom around my neck, and mulitple rings on my fingers, including a bunny one that my Panda gave me years ago. He possessed the Panda ring as the other half to this one.
