Chapter 5: Didn't See That Coming (Alex's P.O.V)

BRINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

BRINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!

The alarm clock screamed in my ear as if it was Chubaka on a sugar rush. I slammed my hand on the top button to shut it up, then groggily opened my eyes.

"Morning sunshine~!" Daniel sang as he walked into my room. I opened my eyes and glared at him. "Get up, we'll be late for school." I blinked a few times as Daniel opened the blinds and revealed the sun's vengence.

"Gyah!" I rolled over and fell off the bed and onto the hard wood floor. Okay... OW! I flipped myself onto my stomach and helplessy reached my hand out dramatically. "Can't. Move. Go on... without me!" I pretended to faint, which was easy since I'm dead-tired. Yeah... maybe karaoke party 'til dawn wasn't such a good idea. Well, it was worth it, seeing Daniel going Lady Gaga crazy that is.

"You're such a drama queen. It's only Monday," Daniel said, rolling his eyes at my pathetic state.

"It's the most cursed day of the week," I murmured. Unwillingly, I got up onto my feet and rubbed the sleep from my eyes. "How are you so energetic? You went all Gaga last night."

"I'm a morning person," Daniel said proudly. "Now go get ready, I'm going to get Lucy."

"Whatever," I grumbled. He walked out as I went to the bathroom. I quickly brushed my teeth, and just as I was about to change out of my Pikachu T-shirt and red pajamas, a loud, girly scream erupted through the silence of our home. I dashed out with my shirt half pulled up, already knowing who it was.

"ALEX~! IT'S GOING TO EAT LUCY!!!" Daniel screamed as I rushed into the garage.

"OH MY CRACKERS IN A CHEESE BALL!" I yelled as I backed away from the huge midnight black dragon that looked ready to pounce. It's wings were twice its size, it's piecing gaze was an icy chill blue, it's tail was long with a porcupine sharp end to it, having a smooth and slick body to soar through undetected in the night sky, knife-like scales coming out from it's elbows. It had two large horns on the crown of it's head and two pincers pointing out by the corners of it's mouth. I looked at Daniel and whispered, "Malificent is in our garage...!"

My throat tightened harshly as if I just swallowed a bowl of needles, as my eyes connected the blue orbs of the beast. I fell on my knees and clutch my throat, trying to inhale and exhale, but no air came through. My forearm, where my tattoo was, burned like fire, and I felt like ripping my skin off if it meant to stop the scorching pain in it. The dragon on my arm changed from black to bright purple, and kept switching colors for a minute, though it felt like forever. Soon, the pain resided and my tattoo was back to a black dragon, though it felt more prominent, radiant yet ominous then before.

"Alex! No! Lucy has no chance at surviving, don't die on me as well! I can't live on if I lose both of the most beautiful women in my life!" Daniel shouted out desperately. I flicked him with my finger with the other arm that didn't feel like it was burning off my body as I choked. "Oh, you're not going anywhere."

'So you're my trainer?' a deep, dark voice said as my panic attack ended.

"Since when did you go through puberty and deepen your voice?" I said, looking at Daniel disbelievingly.

"It wasn't me, and hey!" Daniel replied, insulted.

'It was me, you're dragon. Hello, pathetic human life form,' the mysterious voice said. Daniel and I slowly looked at the oversized lizard with wide eyes.

"It can talk?" I asked, my eye twitching.

'Yes, but only you could hear me. The mere weakling of a human cannot.'

"Hey! I heard you!" Daniel yelled, offended.

'Suprise, suprise. Then you're a trainer as well,' the dragon said dully, puffing out a menacing breath of smoke.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. What's a trainer?" I asked. Oh my raining Kit Kats, the crazy lady from yesterday was right. Dragons do exist. Great, now where's the smoking hot werewolves and sparkling vampires?

'A dragon trainer is someone who trains a dragon. The dragon and their trainer form an eternal bond, and must stick together for battles, and things of the sort. I thought it was simple enough,' the dragon said as if it was obvious. 'Oh, by the way, the name's Draco. You're going to need to know that to be able to summon me...'

"Hi, I'm Daniel!" Daniel introduced enthusiastically as if he wasn't talking to a dragon. This idiot, I swear..

"Alex Knight," I greeted him. "So, let's pretend this all makes sense. I'm your master. We form a bond for life and walk, or in your case fly, into the sunset. Are there any more trainers?"

'There's one right next to,' Draco stated. You don't say?

"Obviously other than him," I snapped back. What a sarcastic jerk, for a dragon.

'Well, when I was looking for you, I sensed them everywhere. So There are probably a variety crawling all over the city, and all over the world as well. It's not like your the first dragon trainer either, this compact between trainer and dragon has been going on for generations,' Draco answered.

"Wait, so if you're Alex's dragon, then where's mine?!" Daniel whined.

'He or she is probably still in their world. To find them and form the bond, you must go to the Gates of the Six Realms,' Draco answered, he's more useful then I thought. 'There was a crack, so that's how I managed to get out. I was already a disgrace to the Dark Realms for having a trainer, so I had to get out as soon as I could.'

"Awesome! I'm an outcast too," I said, holding two thumbs up in fake enthusiasm.

'That just makes me feel so much better,' Draco saracastically remarked with a sneer.

"So, you need to tell us everything else about this dragon-trainer stuff. I can't sink it all in me in just five minutes." I combed my hair back with my fingers, trying to figure some part of this out. Nope, still confused.

'I'll explain to you everything that I know,' Draco reassured.

Daniel added, "Yeah... I don't think we're going to school today."
