It was already past two in the morning and I still can’t go to sleep. Memories of the incident last night was still fresh on my mind. I could still recall how those vampires attempted to kill me.

One to be exact, got so close.

The thought continually brought goose bumps all over my body.  If not for my saviour, Kellan, I could’ve died there. I couldn’t bear the thought of Rosaline and Arthur crying because I died.

And Keith, I don’t know what would’ve happened to him if he arrived earlier than Kellan. He could’ve fought those two and died at the same time.

What if the allies of those monsters came. For some reason, they seemed to be too interested in me.

Would I risk my loved ones’ lives for another killing spree attempt from the vampires?

I took a deep breath and glanced at the clock.

TWO-THIRTY.

It was cold outside. I tucked my coat closer to my body as I walk down the lane with my suitcase rolling behind me.

The rustle of leaves really creeps me out and I also have this gut feeling that someone’s watching me.

What if it’s the other vampires? Good thing, I was already out of the house. They can kill me now and leave Arthur and Rosaline behind.

My thoughts were interrupted when a cold hand grabbed me by the wrist. I almost screamed if not with the familiar voice that spoke after that.

“Where do you think you’re going?.” Asked Kellan when he stepped out of the dark and stood in front of me.

“You almost scared me to death! What are you doing here?.” I asked, looking straight to his, now, pitch black eyes.

“I should be the one asking you that. What are you doing here, Kara?. Aren’t you supposed to be in your room sleeping?,” his voice is of velvet to my ears. The cool breeze brings to my nose his scent. I tried to relax and focus on my breathing.

It takes some hell of a concentration because his cold touch plus his sweet scent makes my head whirl.

“Please let go of me. I want to run away from here. It’s the best thing I have in mind to protect my loved ones.” I answered in a voice a little bit louder than a whisper.

But I knew he heard it because his grip loosened and he put his hands on my shoulders.

“Are you really sure about that, Kara? If you run away now, there’s no turning back. And there’s a possibility that you’d get killed  along the way. Are you willing to sacrifice your life for the sake of your family?.”

I looked at him trying to weigh he options. If  I stay here, I would be endangering the lives of my loved ones. But if I leave, I’d be facing a future so vague for me. I took a deep breath and looked straight into his eyes.

“ Yes.”

He smiled before saying, “That’s all I need to hear. Wait for me.”

Before I could say anything, he disappeared.

Few minutes passed when a black Porsche stopped in front of me. Kellan stepped out of the car and helped me with my luggage. Then, he opened the passenger’s door for me before slipping to the driver’s seat.

Now I'm in to the most dangerous Hide and Seek game of my life.
