"We better go. If they learned  that we’ve been hiding here, innocent people might get killed, including you Sophia,” I said.

But Sophia just smiled “I’ll be willing to die just to protect you, Chosen One.”

“That’s absurd! I don’t want anyone to die because of me. I won’t allow it.”

“It’s my obligation. For centuries now, our family have been a member of the Covenant of Guardians. A group who sworn to protect the Chosen One. That’s why, I’m honoured to serve you and even die for you.”

“NO! I don’t want to hear any of that! If that’s the case, I better face them alone than to put your lives in the line---,”

“Kara…” Kellan’s voice calling my name made me  stop. “Sometimes we need to sacrifice for others to live. If Stellan’s coven or other vampires caught you, these people you’re trying to protect, they will all die.”

“But that’s… unfair.”

“This is the way the world goes. We just have to go with the flow. The weak  shall perish and the strong shall survive. You, Kara. As the Chosen One, should be strong enough for these people. The worlds fate lies in your hands now.”

After our conversation with Sophia, we went  back to the hotel. I  never spoke to Kellan after that. I’ve  been preoccupied with so many things.

Why does it have to be this way? I just wish everything will be back to normal again. I want to be back with Rosaline, Arthur and Keith.

If this was a bad dream, can someone wake me up now?

But… dreams are far better.

This one is for REAL..

I’m DOOMED to live with it.

I’ve been silently crying on my bed. I don’t know if Kellan noticed it but he never made a move to comfort me. Guess he understands that I need to be alone to think about things.

The summer breeze kissed my cheeks as I went out of the veranda to stare at the magnificent Mayon Volcano.

Its beauty is really dumbfounding.

The perfect cone, standing tall amongst the other mountain tops and hills. A one of a  kind creation of God.

I remember, Keith wants to visit the place because of the pictures he saw in the web about this wonder.

If all is  already well, I will bring him here so he could also feel the fascination I ‘m feeling right now.

KEITH....oh how I miss my best friend. I miss his laughter and that stubborn attitude.

I also miss Rosaline and Arthur. My mom and dad.

I miss them a lot but I have to accept the fact that I can’t be with them right now.

If I want to protect them. I have to sacrifice my personal needs for the sake of the people around me.

Just like what Kellan said,

The world’s fate is in my hands right now.

“Breakfast is ready,” Kellan said when he appeared behind me. I turned to face him.

And as I look in his eyes, I saw , for the nth time, the sorrow it hides behind the smile that never  met his eyes.

“Are you all right?” I asked him. He seemed to be caught off hand by my question.

Managing to smile, he uttered. “I should be the one asking you that.”

“You don’t have to worry about me. I’m  sorry about my manners yesterday. I just..”

“It’s alright. You better hurry. The soup will be cold any minute from now.”

“Thank You.”

“You don’t need to thank me. I love what I’m doing,  Kara. It’s one kind of redemption for me. Let’s go,” he said then opened the door for me.
