Chapter 2: Aching and Bleeding

"Is she going to be all right, doc?" I heard someone say.
"We don't know, she and, I think is her sister, might have something...."
I couldn't see. The world was black. I was fighting for light, fighting for survival.
Finally, I saw light. I opened my eyes, and found myself in a hospital bed. Hayley was by me, and in between us was Mommy, Daddy, and Caleb. Tubes were connected to me, and I was aching and all scratched up. Hayley looked the same.
"Mommy..." I struggled for breath.
Mommy rushed up to me and kissed me on the forehead.
"Annie is alive! Annie is alive!" Mommy rejoiced.
"But... What about Hayley?" Caleb asked.
There was a long, deafening pause. Suddenly, Hayley's eyes fluttered open.
"Daddy?" She said.
Everyone cheered. We were all going to be ok.
Ok. I kept repeating to myself. We are all ok.
I tiredly went to my room and as soon as my head hit the pillow, I feel asleep.
