I woke up the next morning feeling like something is hammering my head. Damn, hangover!
My family celebrated Christmas yesterday and it was sublime. We talked, had fun and celebrated it like what we used to do every 25th of December.
Pinilit kong bumangon at imulat ang aking mga mata, the sun is peaking at my closed curtains. Tiningnan ko ang aking alarm clock sa side table and saw that its already 7 am in the morning.
"Good morning, dad," I greeted and kissed him on the cheeks. "Mom," and I did the same with her.
"So what are your plans for today?" Mom asked.
"I don't know, maybe go shopping?"
Dad nodded and I start filling my plate. I want to rest and sleep all day but I cant do that. I need to cherish every day of my short vacation. Its like an escape from stress.
Mom is talking about going back to Philippines the whole breakfast, she wants to visit our company and she misses our house. Dad agreed and planning to celebrate next Christmas in the Philippines.
My mom is a Filipino, she's a journalist and loved to travel a lot. Then she met my dad, an American businessman and just starting the company, The Most. She interviewed dad and that's how their love story goes.
Its past 12 in the afternoon and I haven't eaten yet. Nawili ako sa pagtingin sa mga damit at mga sapatos, and Im carrying more than five paperbags.
Naupo ako sa pangdalawahang upuan and ordered what I usually used to, zitti pasta and a lemonade.
While waiting for my food, I checked my inbox. I have unread messages from Suzy, I am about to click it pero agad akong napaangat ng tingin ng maramdaman kong may umupo sa upuan sa harap ko.
"Its been years!" He said and smiled widely.
My forehead creased at the sight of him. Happiness and astonishment are written all over his face.
Matagal akong nakatitig sa kanya when it hits me.
"Donny!" I said in surprised.
"Finally," then he laughs. "I thought you already forgot me."
"Is that really you? You looked so so different."
His eyes are big and brown and seamless. His thick eyebrows add strong and sharp features together with his perfect jawline.
"You too, especially your smiles."
I rolled my eyes, he used to call me bunny because of my teeth.
"Di ka pa rin nagbabago, ang bully mo pa rin," I said and pouted my lips.
He belly laughed and looked at my lips.
"What? I didn't say anything," tanggi nya.
"Whatever, Donato!" And its my time to guffawed.
He makes face and called the waiter. He ordered and we talked and recalled our childhood.
"I missed you so much," he said.
"I missed you, too," I answered and smiled.
