 {Dark Thoughts}

“Jack…big brother…” her voice echoed in his mind. The face of his darling sister appeared, worry mixed with tears that fell down her pale cheeks. Jack raised his arm his fingers extended wanting to reach her and embrace her. But her small figure began to get farther away from him, and he was paralyzed in place.

The darkness around him wrapped around his slim body engulfing him in hot flames that licked at his skin, he screamed in anguish. His eyes wide as he yelled for help, for anybody to come and save him from the pain swallowing him.

He gritted his teeth as his body became numb from the pain; a young girl’s screams met his ears. A small girl was running toward him her platinum gold hair swirling around her hazy face, her blue light dress fluttering underneath her.

Then her figure became taller as she ran toward him, her face became clear and he felt his heart skip as he recognized the girl. “Elisa!”

She paused in her tracks and smiled gently at him, he found the pain diminishing and he was free. He stood up in a flash and ran to her, her sapphire eyes sparkling as he went to her. But then a shadow appeared beside her and an arm wrapped around her shoulder, she turned away from his shocked expression.

“No…Elisa!” Jack hated the fact that he never even told her how much he loved her. Flashes of the first time he met her in the village invaded his mind and he felt his chest swirl and his throat ache when it was love at first sight but now his heart was broken. The memories of them together washed away into the sea, his heart shattered at the thought of her with another man.

His sister…mother and father…and Elisa…were in every single memory he had and it pained him that they weren’t with him. But somewhere in the deepest part of his mind he felt as if there was someone else that wanted to be remembered.

When his eyes fluttered opened he was blinded by the morning sunlight showering on his pale structure. Jack raised his hand up and covered his face from the strong light, he yawned tiredly.

Looking around him he noticed he was in the woods…how odd he didn’t remember where he was. He stood up abruptly and it sank in his mind that he wasn’t in Burgess, his home town.

Forcing his tired limbs to stand up on his bare feet he walked to the small lake, kneeled down and gazed into the water. His brown hair swayed around his forehead, and his chocolate eyes becoming dazed. He felt as if something was different…like if the reflection he was staring at wasn’t his real form.

“I’m going mad,” he mumbled nonchalantly as he scooped water into his palms and splashed it against his face. It was refreshingly cold and he drank some water before deciding to walk to a near town for help.

He was determined to reach home to his beloved family, and to the girl he was madly in love with. Yet something was pulling his strings and he couldn’t find out what it was, he glanced back at the woods and shook his head.

It must have been his imagination because he thought he saw a glow near the trunk.

“Elsa, is everything alright?” Her father asked worry lacked in his voice as he opened the door to find his daughter staring out the window with a distant look in her eyes.

She hesitated before answering in a weak tone, “Yes.”

“Are you sure? You seem a bit out of it my dear,” he came in the room accompanied by his wife and closed the door behind them. Elsa’s mother also was worried as she went to her daughter and put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Elsa sweet—”

“Don’t touch me!” She shook off her mother’s hand and took a step away. Her mother had such a miserable expression from the rejection but nonetheless also stepped away into her husband’s chest. “I don’t want to hurt you, so please stay away,” Elsa added looking away from her parents concerned faces.

Her hand touched the wall, and it was engulfed in sharp ice, she felt her heart thunder with anxiety. The walls around her felt as if they were closing in on her and the air decreased rendering her to breath.

“It’s getting stronger, and I am afraid that I will hurt you,” she explained holding her gloved hands together against her chest. “So please…just leave me alone,” she begged her head lowered down.

Her parents nodded in understanding, and began to leave but not before getting one last glance of their poignant daughter hugging herself. The door closed and Elsa went to her bed, falling with a thump she grabbed her pillow and pressed her face against it.

“I hate you! I hate you Jack Frost!” She cried her silent room a reverberation of her distress as she repeated the curse with all her might. Her fingers dug into the soft pillow and she felt alone.

He promised to always be by her side, and every single day he was by her side. Now it has been days and he never showed up at her window with that playful smile. He was gone, she knew it.

Jack forgot about her and she wasn’t the same without him. As if a huge part of her was ripped out of her, and she was left to suffer with the open wound. Her beacon of hope had been taken from her, and she felt weak.

“What happened to his words?” She mumbled through the pillow. “That liar!” Elsa yelled as tears fell down her cheeks in a fury. But inside she knew she could not hate Jack, because she loved him.

“Don’t worry Princess, because I will always be by your side,” his words rebounded off her mind in a whisper. Elsa wondered if he would ever come back to her side, or had he disappeared to somewhere far from here.
