Alanah shot up from her seat.
"Arranged marriage?! Are you kidding me?!"
She felt the other boy, who she had learned was named Noah, put his hand on her arm for a moment before quickly pulling his arm away and turning to her parents.
"Ma'am, Sir, if you don't mind, I think I know a way to calm her down, but I will need to be left alone with-"
"No way!" Alanah cut him off. "I am not being left alone with this kid!"
She went to just storm out, when she was interrupted by her father's voice.
"Alanah Michaela Vi, you sit down this instant!"
The tone of her father's voice frightened her, as she had never heard him use that tone before. She slowly but surely sat down, a smile crossing her father's lips.
"Thank you. Now, we'll leave you two be."
With that, her mother and father left the room.
