An interview with the amazing ginawriter

Firstly how are you doing? How has life been treating you lately?Since it's holiday season, how have you been enjoying your days?

- I'm doing great! I've been relaxing at home and going out to different places and really enjoying the food, which is arguably the best part of the holidays.

Rapid Fire

When is your Birthday?

- My birthday is October 31st. I'm a Halloween baby.

The Best thing in your life—

- The best thing in my life is definitely my family.

What's the only thing you regret the most in your life till this date?

- I think what I regret the most is not always enjoying every day to its fullest by worrying about the future. I can look back and see lots of moments I wish I savored and saw the ease in the situation.

Would you rather

Would you rather have your book published but now have as much readers as your expected or write on wattpad and have millions of readers?

- I'd rather write on Wattpad. I  love this community, and the instant feedback and sense of closeness is unparalleled in the publishing world.

Would you rather always have to say everything on your mind or never be able to speak again?

- I'd rather always have to say everything on my mind because I'd just learn to be very selective with my thoughts. I love talking way too much to give up.

Would you rather know when you are going to die or know how you are going to die?

- I'd rather not think about death now, to be honest...

The Explanation Segment

If you were given a chance to publish one of your book which one would it be and why?

- I would probably publish Always There, my newest work, because I think it's different than mainstream YA or NA and features a more diverse main character than expected and retains the humor I love to write.

What is the most different quality of yours that most of the authors on wattpad don't have?

- The quality that set me apart from the beginning was probably the standard I liked to keep in my writing. I edit a lot and always make sure my grammar and style is on point, and while it isn't flawless, of course, it makes for a much easier read. If there are a lot of typos in a book, I find myself reluctant to read it.

If you have to describe life in three words what would it be and why?

- I'd describe it as joyful, thought-provoking and challenging. I find a lot of my life is happy, but with the way I was raised, I always end up thinking about matters more deeply and trying to take on challenges, whether academically or personally.

Do you wanna throw a shoutout to anyone special? Any friends? Haters? Favourite reader or author? Any special words for someone?

- I'd like to shoutout all the amazing writers and online friends I've met throughout my years on Wattpad! Some of them I've gotten really close with, and they've made this experience all the more fun.

What do you have to say about all the hating going around on wattpad? We can see a lot of amazing authors leaving Wattpad because of this. What's your opinion? How do you handle the haters?

- I think hate is not as huge of a problem now as it was a few years ago, because the community has grown a little, but it also comes down to what a person defines as hate.

There is hate on stories and hate on the person directly. The latter I think is a more serious matter and definitely should be dealt with by blocking the users or reporting them if what they're saying is against Wattpad rules. But in terms of hate on stories, there's always going to be people that don't like your work. Sometimes they may just hate a certain word you used or think your whole book is awful, but the best way to deal with that is to not let their opinions dictate your writing. I found before that anytime I received hate on my works, I felt the need to entirely alter them just to fit their critique. Sometimes constructive criticism is really helpful, but destructive criticism will make you lose the joy and originality in writing. The way I handle haters is ignoring them because they're usually looking for a response. I really advise against responding back to hateful comments because those people have all the time in the day to send you paragraphs and paragraphs of harsh words. And if they're being too much to handle, I just block. Haters, as cliché as this sounds, are usually somewhat jealous of what you've achieved so engaging them is really pointless.

What change do you wanna see in yourself in 2017?

- I want to learn to always be 100% productive and don't lose out on opportunities because of fear in 2017.
