Chapter Two
They kick her. Shub her. Scream at her. And I left her. I didn't mean to. I tried to save her. But I didn't. She still suffers, and worse than she did when I was with her. She begins murmuring my name.
"A-Akira... Akira... don't... don't leave me..."
"I'm sorry, Aspen," I whisper, even though she can't hear me, "I am so, so sorry."
Her suffering makes me restless. A restless soul. I have to help her. That will put my soul at peace. But I don't want to help me, I want to help Aspen.
"Aspen? Aspen listen."
"A-Akira?"
"Aspen, I promise, you'll be fine!"
She can't hear me anymore. I know she can't.
"MAKE IT STOP!" she screams.
"Aspen, please!"
"I-I want it to stop! PLEASE!"
"Aspen!"
"H-HELP ME PLEASE!"
Her sisters start snickering. The eighteen year old, the sixteen year old twins, and even the five year old, laugh at the poor fifteen year old's pain.
"Aspen!"
I walk over to one of the sisters and try to push her away, but my arm goes right through. It's impossible.
"Aspen..." I whisper her name once more, and her taut nerves slowly release, and she opens her aqua green eyes. She looks up at her sisters then whispers, "We'll be late for school." Then she gets up, pulls her brown hair from her face, and walks away to get dressed for school.
