Chapter Three

I look up and automatically know I'm dreaming. He's gone. Dead. Taken away from me. How could be standing right there? I squeeze my eyes shut, frantically shake my head, and when I open then, I mentally slap myself in the face.

The person standing in front of my is a girl. A girl with short auburn hair and creamy-chocolate colored eyes. She's actually really pretty. I feel my face heat up.

"You okay?" she asks.

"I..." I start speaking, but my voice is to hoarse from screaming. She smiles.

"I'm Sakura," she says. "Sakura Johnson."

"Aspen Summers," I whisper back.

I stand up, but my knees are really weak and wobbly.

"You sure you're okay?" Sakura asks with a look of worry in her eyes.

"Why do you care?" I croak without thinking.

"Because you were suffering!" she replies.

"Everyone hates me, though," I say. "If you hang out with me, they'll hate you too."

"That's a risk I'll take," she responds, as a face like she had just accepted a challenge crosses her face. I pull my phone out of my backpack and check the time.

"Oh God," I gasp. "I'm gonna be late for class!"

I hurry to my near-by locker, get my touch-screen laptop that Vivida says is "out of date", my notebooks, and my pencil bags from my backpack, then shub the rest of the stuff into my locker. I begin walking to class, but then I remember that Sakura's new.

"The office is on my way to class," I call over my shoulder. "If that's where you need to go, just come with me."

Sakura runs to catch up with me.

"Quick question," she says. "What happened when... you know..."

"I screamed and fell to the ground?" I ask, "That was something that happens all the time. It has happend my whole life. It wasn't always that bad though."

"How did it get worse?"

I open my mouth to tell her, but stop. I can't trust her, just yet. I told this stuff to Vivida and she thought I was crazy. "I can't talk about it," I say calmly.
