Chapter 2

No sight is more provocative of awe than is the night sky.

-Llewelyn Powys

“Come in. Please make yourself comfortable. By the way, I’m Cassandra.” Said the beautiful girl. So that’s her name. She let me sit in the couch “Wait there, I’ll fetch you something to drink.” I nodded and waited for Cassandra.

While waiting for her, someone suddenly hugged me from behind “I’m home sis.” I was really surprised it made me squeak. I felt that the person hugged me suddenly stood up. I looked back to see who it was. It was a guy. He looked really shocked and mad at the same time. “Who are you?” he asked. I couldn’t say anything, I was staring at him. He’s so gorgeous, He had this messy brown hair with eyes as dark as the night sky I always see at the tower and he had lips so pink that you’d just want to kiss him.

Suddenly I heard Cassandra “Oh Ryan, you’re back” then she smiled. So this charming guy is Ryan? He’s so dazzling. “Who is that?” asked Ryan “Ah… Her? She had nowhere to go and she was soaking wet because of the rain and you know...” Ryan looked at me them back to Cassandra. “And she is?” he asked “Huh?” said Cassandra. “Her name. What is it?” he asked Cassandra with a cold look on his face.

Cassandra’s POV

I couldn’t answer. I forgot to ask her. Ryan sighed “Seems like you don’t know this woman’s name. You’re so careless.” I know Ryan would drive her out that’s why I immediately thought of something to say. “Well, it’s not that I don’t know. It’s just that we were about to introduce ourselves but she looked really thirsty, that’s why I went to the kitchen to give her a drink.” then I followed with a smile. Then I looked at her trying to ignore Ryan “So, what’s your name?” she looked really scared that’s why I touched her hand and looked at her straight in to her eyes “ It’s okay, you don’t have to be scared.” “Uhm… I’m Victoria Wellton? “Wellton? Isn’t that the governor of the village next to ours?” said Ryan calmly sitting next to Victoria.

Victoria told us about her story. About being the niece or should I say “half-niece” of the governor of that village. My heart broke when I heard about her being imprisoned when she was only 7.

She told us about how she loved Vampires, Ryan looked at me. “Hmph. Vampires don’t exist.” said Ryan to Victoria. “Really? That’s too bad. It’s my dream to see a real vampire and wish to marry one” said Victoria looking really upset. I gave Victoria something to drink then I called Ryan’s attention. “What?” he whispered “Let’s talk upstairs.” I went up then Ryan followed.

Victoria’s POV

I saw them going upstairs so I drank the juice Cassandra gave me and followed them. When I was upstairs, I heard them talking in a room… I went near the door trying to listen to what they’re talking about.

Ryan-Cassandra Conversation

“So Ryan, do you think we should tell her?” “Are you crazy? Hell no.” Ryan shouted

“But, you made her upset, you shouldn’t have said something like that. You should have just changed the topic or ignored her” replied Cassandra

“You can’t tell me what to do. Just mind your own business.”

“Then what are we supposed to do to her?”

“Kill her. That will be easier.” Said Ryan

“What? Ryan, I know you know that she’s kind and innocent. It’s not like she knows about us bein-“

“Don’t say it! Just get over it!” shouted Ryan

I was wondering what they were talking about. Kill me? Why? About them being what?

I realized something. I suddenly heard footsteps walking near the door so I ran down the stairs and sat at the couch. Then I saw Cassandra and Ryan walking down the stairs. Cassandra went to the kitchen then Ryan sat beside me. He stared at me and he went nearer and nearer

Ryan’s POV

I knew it. She was listening. “Did you hear it?” I asked her “Hear what?” she said acting like she doesn’t know what I mean “You’re such a bad liar. Don’t lie about it. So did you hear it?” I asked her again trying to control my anger “I absolutely have no idea what you’re talking about” I really got mad and lost myself “Upstairs! I know you were listening! I’m a vampire for god’s sake. You don’t need to lie cuz’ I already know!” I yelled in her face and stood up. I was about to leave her there but she pulled my shirt so I looked at her “Are you really going to kill me?” she asked looking down “Of course. We wouldn’t want someone running around telling people about us, wouldn’t we?” She started crying “Please…If you’re going to kill me please just let me spend some time with you and Cassandra. Please. You know how I like Vampires and I really dreamt about seeing one.”
