Chapter Thirty-Seven

"Oh, I see. They haven't told you. Well, you'll find out on your own then. It's not my place to tell you." Medea smirked.

Crystal raised an eyebrow. "Tell me what?"

Medea just smiled. She turned to the boys, charmspeaking them further. "This fountain is magic. If a man were to be killed, he could be thrown in here and come out stronger than ever."

"Don't listen to her!" Piper said.

"Why don't you fight? If you get hurt or killed, I'll just throw you in the fountain and you'll be even better than before. What do you say? Will you fight? You loath each other!"

"No!" Piper said.

The three of them drew their weapons.

Leo scowled. "It's always Jason did this, Jason did that. He always gets the attention!"

"Leo, you're so annoying! When was the last time you took something seriously?" Jason growled.

"You boys are idiots! You get in my way of my quest!" Crystal said.

While they glared at each other, Medea showed Piper what was happening with her father.

That's a very smart tactic.

"Not now!" Crystal said, under her breath.

The voice in her head just chuckled.

"Guys, listen to me," Piper pleaded. "You guys are friends! She is the enemy! Fight her!"

Crystal stayed put while Leo and Jason broke out their trance.

"Was I about to kill you guys?" Jason asked.

"Crystal?" Piper asked.

"Fools! Fight me!" Crystal said.

Medea cackled. "I guess you're not as strong as you think, Piper."

"You're working for Dirt Woman! First you send her to the machine shop, then you capture my friend! I have a hammer ready for for your face!"

"Come here, Crystal. Protect me." Medea smirked. "Your precious friend is completely under control."

"Crystal!" Leo shouted. "Let her go!"

"You'll have to get past my pets, first!" The sundials on both sides of the fountain opened up, revealing to large golden dragons.

"Have fun!" Medea grabbed Crystal's arm and ran towards the escalator while the dragons attacked Leo and Jason.

Piper followed them up the stairs. She was trying to catch up to them, but Medea was quicker. Crystal realized that she was heading towards the potions. Just as Medea picked up a potion that would cause painful death. Crystal ducked down just in time to dodge the shield that Piper had thrown. Dozens of bottles came crashing to the ground.

"My potions! You've doomed us all! Crystal, kill her!" Medea screeched.

Crystal dropped her act. "No, I don't think I will."

Medea and Piper looked shocked. "H-How did you break my spell?"

Crystal smiled. "It's easy if you weren't even under a spell in the first place." She pulled out the cotton balls. "Who knew cotton balls were so useful?"

Piper smiled as Crystal stood by her side.

"Bah! You'll die anyway." Medea growled.

Before they could move forward to attack, Leo called from below. "Jason! Help me!"

Piper and Crystal looked over the edge to see Leo pinned down and Jason across the room, occupied by the other dragon.

Crystal looked at Piper. "Can you handle her?"

Piper nodded. "Go!"

Crystal snatched Medea's head scarf and jumped over the edge. In one swift move, she landed on the sun dragon's back using the scarf as a rein. It forgot about Leo and tried to buck Crystal off.

"Crystal?" Leo sat up.

The sun dragon radiated heat, nearly burning Crystal. Suddenly, the stained glass room shattered as Festus flew in. Crystal grinned in joy as Festus grabbed the dragons in each claw. She landed next to Leo, who closed the sun dials. Jason, Leo and Crystal boarded onto Festus and started to fly up. A few seconds later, Piper jumped over the side and Jason caught her. Crystal heard Medea screaming as they flew away, over Chicago. The department store exploded a moment after.
