Chapter Seven

Crystal laid down and pulled out the picture of her and her aunt. She looked at it for a while, before closing her eyes and slipping into a deep sleep.

It felt like only a few mere minutes before Crystal had to get up. Nonetheless, she got up anyway and changed into a pair of shorts and the CHB t-shirt Luke had gotten her. And by 'gotten', Luke probably stole it.

Speaking of 'stole', Crystal had meet a few kids of Hermes. Turns out, the kid who had stole her bag was Connor Stoll. He had blue eyes and brown hair with a mischievous smile. Both him and his older brother, Travis, were co-head counselors and they really like pulling pranks on people.

Luke passed out the schedules:

8:00 Breakfast & Cabin Inspection

9:00-10:00 Sword & Shield w/Clarisse - Cabin Challenge, full combat armor required.

10:00-11:00 Archery w/Chiron - target practice: proper use of flaming arrows.

11:00-1:00 Winged Horseback Riding w/Demeter Cabin - first hour trail, picnic lunch, second hour aerial combat

1:00-2:00 Monster Assault Techniques w/Hermes Cabin - Ethiopian Dracones: Their Teeth, Claws, and Feeding Habits

2:00-4:00 FREE CHOICE
Arts & Crafts w/Hephaestus Cabin - Make your own Bronze Weapon

*or* Canoe Races w/Naiads - 1st Place Prize: 20 drachma credit at the Camp Store

*or* Climbing Wall w/satyrs - "The Clashing Rocks"

4:00-5:00 Swim & Beach Time w/the Nereids - bring sunscreen, discus, javelin, etc.

5:00-6:00 Free Time, Volleyball, Cabin Clean-up

6:00 Dinner & Announcements

7:00-9:00 Capture the Flag - combat gear required, all magical items allowed.

9:00-10:00 Sing-a-long and bonfire w/Apollo Cabin

10:00 Prepare for bed - Lights out by 11:00

Crystal left the cabin and went to the showers, which was cramped with campers. She spotted Hannah and Annabeth in the corner.

"Hey, guys!" She walked up to them.

"Hey, Crys! How was your first day?" Annabeth smiled.

"Great! I met a few friends!" Crystal replied.

The line moved up a few people.

"What are you doing for free time?" She asked.

"We're really busy. I have to tutor Percy Ancient Greek and Hannah has to restock books in the library." Annabeth sighed.

"We're sorry." Hannah put a hand on her friend's shoulder.

"Nah, it's cool." Crystal shook her head. "I was planning on going to the strawberry fields anyway, since I haven't seen those yet."

"Okay, see you later then." Hannah said.

After archery (which Crystal sucked at) the Hermes cabin went to the horse stables. Luckily, Percy was there, but talking to the horses. There was one horse in particular he was talking to.

"Nightshade?"

Percy looked at Crystal and smiled. "Hey!"

Crystal tilted her head. "Um, Nightshade? You have... wings."

"The Mist covered them." Percy said.

"Mist?"

"The Mist is a supernatural force controlled by the goddess Hecate that twists a mortal's sight from seeing monsters, gods, Titans, and various other mythical creatures and supernatural occurrences by replacing them with things the mortal mind knows about and can comprehend." He explained.

Crystal nodded. "Wow! That's awesome!"

Percy opened his mouth but was interrupted by Luke.

"Hurry, Clearwater! We can't wait all day!"

Crystal hopped onto Nightshade and waved to Percy. "Bye!"
