Chapter Thirty

"Impossible! Monsters go to Tartarus once they are killed." Crystal paled.

"We need to go," Piper said.

Not even a few minutes of being placed on the metal dragon, Crystal slumped forward and passed out. The nectar had worn off and the pain from everything was overwhelming.

The nightmare she had was the worst of it all. Sure, she had occasional nightmares, but not as much as normal demigods would have.

She was lost in the woods, running. She wasn't sure why or what she was running from, but she was. Screams of her friends pierced her ears. Then they abruptly stopped. Crystal froze in her tracks. It was eerily silent. The only thing she could hear was her heartbeat and her heavy breathing.

"Jason?" She shakily called out.

No answer.

Crystal started panicking. She started running again, calling for her friends.

"P-Piper! Leo!"

Suddenly, she tripped and the ground met her face. She sat up, looking at the thing that tripped her. Crystal gasped, realizing that it wasn't a thing. It was a body. Looking closer, she noticed it was a girl. She had curls the color of cinnamon. Her chest wasn't moving and her golden eyes were open and lifeless. Crystal stumbled back, pushing herself away from the body. Before she could even get up and run, another dead body fell from the trees and landed on her. She screamed when she found it was Jason.

Pushing him off her, she ran further into the woods. More bodies littered the ground and hung on the trees. She recognized most of them. They were her friends. Percy, Annabeth, Piper, and even Hannah were all dead. There was one she didn't recognize. He looked Chinese with a chubby baby face. Tears streamed down her eyes as she stared at the corpses. Suddenly she felt a warm liquid drop onto her head. Crystal lifted a hand to touch it. She saw that the liquid was red when she brought it back to her face.

Blood.

A pair of legs hung in her view. Crystal forced herself to look upwards. A body was pierced through a thick tree branch. A strangled gasp erupted from her throat as she recognized the face.

"Leo!"

Leo's eyes flew open. "Its all your fault!" His voice rasped, in pain.

"No!" She ran from the body.

"Its all your fault, Crystal... Crystal..."

"Crystal! Crystal!" Leo's voice called out to her.

Crystal woke with a start. Her face was wet with tears and she was hyperventilating. Leo gripped her waist so she wouldn't fall off Festus.

"Crystal? Are you okay? We heard you screaming in your sleep. Did you have a nightmare?" Piper called from her place on the back of Festus.

"Yeah... Yeah, I'm fine." Crystal wiped her tears away and took deep breaths.

Leo's grip on her waist tightened.

"Are you sure?" He asked in her ear.

Crystal just nodded. They all sat in silence until Jason woke up, shouting something about Cyclopes.
