It was currently Friday night and the new vet had now been with them for a week, Maya and him were bumping heads a lot, and she isn't one to contain her temper around new people, especially people she slightly disliked.

Maya watches as Tess waves her goodbye, it was getting late and both Lucas and Maya were always the last ones to leave as they themselves prepared for the next day.

The blonde looks up to see a brunette with a small kitten enter the door as Tess walks out past her into the dark night. "we're closed," Maya kindly informs as she drops what she was doing.

A blush becomes visible as soon as the brunette chuckles, "Dr. Friar is my brother, he uh- he's expecting me. Star need all the 'new to the world' things," she informs with a wide smile, proceeding to caress her pet.
(Lucas is her cousin, but they're so close that they consider each other siblings.)

"I'll go get him..." Maya says, a questioning expression playing on her face, expecting her name in return.

The taller female catches on and shared another smile, "Riley," she answers.

Maya nods and gives her an awkward thumbs up, "Riley, right," she mumbles before making her way down the lonely hallway.

Her blue eyes come in contact with a nice pair of abs when opening the door that led into his office. His face remained straight when seeing her presence after his blue sweatshirt slid past his eyes and covered his bare torso, "your cousin's here," she lowly informs him and continues to walk back to Riley.

"He's coming," Maya says and fixes her beanie, grabbing her bag and Jacket.

The outside sky roared as if on cue, causing Maya to groan and roll her eyes, "it's fucking October!" She semi shouts, Lucas eyeing her as she did.

He clears his throat, "I can take you both home once it dies down, I really don't think it's safe to be out and about," he states, earning a hesitant expression from Maya.

Soon after, the power went out, "oh wow, great!" Maya sarcastically comments and stumbles upon herself to Riley's legs.

She picks herself up and remains still, "are there any emergency lights of some sort?" They hear Riley question.

"Yeah, anybody got a phone on them?" Maya asks, feeling for her bag.

She hears someone sigh, "I left my phone in my office," Lucas' thick voice speaks.

Another person sighs "Mine's dead," Riley speaks, receiving a groan from the blonde.

There was a quick and awkward moment of silence as they all stood in the pitch dark, "where's yours?" Riley asks Maya.
