Maya's blue eyes scanned her surroundings, stopping and staring at the male silhouette near the end of the building. She sensed familiarity and comfort, yet a sense of pain and grief had washed over her. The silhouette disappeared before her, she furrowed her brows and decided to follow behind.

She felt like she was running for an endless amount of time through the almost fully vacant small town, chasing after the figure. Maya panted and wanted to scream in frustration. She looked around again, she looked up at the bitter gray sky before sighing and looking forward. The silhouette wasn't a silhouette, but what seemed to be a boy. He sat on a bench in front of Maya with his back facing her.

She makes her way to the bench and faces the boy, she stood in front of him unaware of the silent tears that were running down her cheeks. "Caleb," she softly announced and sat beside the fifteen year old.

The boy, Caleb, grins at her before attacking her with a huge hug. Maya sniffles away the tears and hugs him even harder.

He smirks, "I hear your kid's named after me," he announced.

She huffs, "and it internally kills me each time I call his name. You know, Nate eagerly wanted to name him Charlie, but I knew my son was going to be my person like you once were, hell you still are."

"So, I'd like to assume I'm a hot topic," he trolls, Maya's smile fades when she remembers all of it like the day it all happened.

Her throat aches once again, "why did you leave me?" Maya weakly managed to question.

Caleb sighs and shares a sad smile, "I couldn't do it anymore, it was all too much again, and I had realized that maybe happiness wasn't for me, I mean, you know how I get when I'm in my head," he explains.

Maya hits his arm, "why the hell didn't you come to me like you always did! There was no need to leave me alone, you asshole! I hate you!" She shouts, tears threatening to flow out.

He knew she didn't mean it, and so did she. She wasn't fooling anyone.

His finger pushed back a strand of her hair, "You slowly distanced yourself, but I want you to know that I left utterly in love with you," he informs with sadness lingering in his eyes.

She broke. Her sobs were very audible and sad to know about. It was like she physically felt her heart shatter shortly after hearing those words. Maya tried and steadied her breathing before she lunged forward and connected their lips together, he kissed back and their lips moved beautifully in sync.

Maya dreaded what she was going to ask and she didn't want to, but she had to, "am I dead?"

He pulled her in for another kiss before it's all gone and all that was seen was black once again.

What seemed to be a lifeless body was being rushed onto a gurney, "Jane doe, possible head injury, very weak pulse..."

His two fingers are placed over the tatted semicolon on her wrist as he checked for a pulse himself.

"Get a head CT and have O.R. 3 ready for me, Vasquez you're scrubbing in," the surgeon orders his interns.

It was pouring rain, and it was also two in the morning. Caleb had forgotten his favorite stuffed animal and Maya was determined to get to him by the time he woke up after surgery.

What most people don't remember when driving at two in morning is that there are loads of drunk people out around that time.

The road seemed to be lonely except for the loud mixture of the wind and rain pouring down on the streets, making the road quite slippery. Maya drove Lucas' is truck to her place and was now on her way back to the hospital with Caleb's stuffed animal in the passenger seat. The light went from red to green, Maya took her foot off the brake and gently placed it on the gas.

Before she knew it, her body shifted back in forth, and shards of glass flew inward, making their way into her pale skin as she harshly got T-boned by a grey Jeep, the truck maneuvered it's way to the near curb. She weakly whimpered before the last thing she saw before black was blurred lights from the surrounding light posts, as the sound of droplets roughly coming in contact with things slowly faded out and got less rough.

The one person uninjured who witnessed it all stood behind the drive thru window at a McDonald's on the corner of the street, the man quickly rushed to a phone and dialed for help.
