One of the questions I was asked during my time at the police station (possibly interview? I can’t remember if they said it was) was, were you wearing a seatbelt? To that, I remember I said yes. No matter the circumstances, the vehicle, whatever; I ALWAYS wear a seatbelt. You never know when anything could happen. The look on their face said it all but.. They didn't believe me. I had no typical car accident signs. In their eyes I had no mark or laceration down my right shoulder or along my right collarbone/clavicle therefore I hadn't been wearing one. I HAD walked from the accident though..
As I examined my body a little l found I had a killer mass bruise on my left hip. I also had grazes and burn marks from a laceration of some kind on my right arm – inside the elbow joint area. The officers hadn’t thought to think outside the box or pay attention to these injuries though. Fractured Pelvis on the left side and these marks on the right.. like something was diagonally across my body. As if the seatbelt WAS on, but, as I’m quite small, may have set itself further down my arm and locked out. The seatbelt WAS on.. but not on the part where it should have been . I was alive
Considering the severity of the events that occurred and the final sum up of my injuries I suppose I was grateful I have slight luck.. I do realise things could have been a lot worse!
I had no operation required to heal my injuries it was just going to take time and a high pain tolerance. I also had the feeling my stubbornness would come in handy to get through everything I needed to.
