Chapter Eight: Caddy's birthday party

Mercy's POV

The twins woke up after a 45 minute nap and Caddy ended up waking up 15 minutes later. We decided that we might as well go out for lunch and walked over to McDonald's since it was a special occasion.
"What would you like Caddy?" I asked her and she thought about it.
"Can I please have a hamburger happy meal?" She asked.
"Yes you can" I told her, tapping the hamburger meal, also getting a bag of apple slices and a bag of chips for the twins to share. I also got three waters of all of them before getting myself a hamburger with loaded gravy fries and a small fanta. Sable got a median size garlic aioli chicken wrap and waited while I grabbed two highchairs and put them beside the table we chose. I put Jan and Jez into the highchairs and helped Caddy go inside the playground. I watched her as she began to play with a little boy while trying to stay cheery for the little ones. It looked like Caddy and the boy knew each other.
"Hi I'm Natalie, Kamden's mum. How are you?" A lady spoke to me as she sat at the table beside mine.
"I'm good..." I smiled at her awkwardly.
"Oh sorry, I'm very forgetful sometimes. Caddy and Kamden play together at the daycare and I'm good friends with her mother. How is Ally anyways? It feels like forever since I last spoke to her" Natalie explained.
"Um... yeah about that she um... passed... this morning actually" I took deep breaths, trying not to cry in public.
"Oh honey! I'm sorry, what is your relation to the family?" Natalie asked.
This is getting weird. I thought.
"Are they nearly done?" I asked Sable telepathically.
"They just have the drinks... then yeah, they're done" Sable responded.
"Hello?" Natalie asked.
"Oh sorry, I'm uh... Caddy's birth mother. It's a long story" I told her.
For the first time in forever, the twins were actually quiet when I wished they would direct my attention away from the weird lady. But no, of course they weren't being loud. That would be too simple... they wanted poor Mimi to suffer even more.
"Okay we've got everything" Sable set down two trays and went to go get Caddy.
"No don't leave me" I begged and she chuckled.
She came back with Caddy and I put plastic over the trays of the high-chair. I placed the apple slices and a couple of chips on the plastic for the twins.
"Hello Miss Nat" Caddy smiled for the second time today.
"More like Miss Nut... job" I thought and Sable nearly choked on her Diet Coke.

After a while, Miss Nutjob left and I grabbed out my camera.
"Hey guys, so Sable and I are at McDonald's with the kids as it's Caddy's birthday today!" We all cheered, even the twins giggled a bit. "But it is also the day that a young wonderful woman who still had a lot of adventures to take... passed from cancer this morning. Ally... we shall all miss you dearly. But don't worry, we shall remind Caddy constantly about how special you and Isaac were in the short time we got to spend with you. Rest In Peace Princess Ally Harrison, you were the queen of our hearts" I spoke into the camera.
Sable and I had created a vlog channel after our birthday when Jace got me the camera.
"Are you enjoying your birthday hamburger?" Sable asked as I put the camera on the table, facing everyone sitting at it.
"Mhmmmmm" Caddy nodded, taking a bite for the camera.
Jez squealed in delight and hit the table.

After a while we packed up and went to pick up Bray so that we could drive over to the pool. We met up with the others at the pool. Bray took Jez and, surprisingly, Albi took Jan as we all got changed. I got dressed and helped Caddy before we met up with the others. We had a fun five hour day of pool activities and everyone enjoyed it. We even got some videos for our vlog.

I woke up and looked at my phone. 5:03 am. The twins were still asleep so I took the opportunity, and decided to get up and go for a walk. It felt a little weird, something felt... off. I just went around the property edge before I went inside again. I grabbed a water and started to chug it until... I heard Jans scream. Not only was it weird that he woke up first but the scream was also his painful scream. I ran in and found Jan screaming, with tears streaming down his face. He was trying to roll closer to Jez's cot. I went over to Jez's cot, wondering why she hadn't woken up from the ruckus. I saw her little body and realised her chest wasn't moving... her lips were blue.
"Noooooooooo!" I screamed, picking her up and putting her on the ground to perform CPR.
"What's wro... oh shit, MUM!" Sable cried as she grabbed Jan, who was still screaming.
"What's wrong?" Mum ran in and saw Jez. "Adam ring 000, Now!" mum yelled, coming to my side.

When the paramedics arrived ten minutes later I was still trying to revive Jez. Everyone had given up on Jez but I didn't care 1, 2, 3... breath, breath.
"Mercy she's gone... let her go" Sable told me. "Jan needs you, let her go" Sable told me out loud.
"No!"
"Miss I need you to step away from the baby" a paramedic told me.
Mum grabbed me as the paramedics picked up the lifeless body and walked out. I broke down to shreds. First Ally now Jezebel! And all of this happens within two days! And in the week before graduation! How the hell am I going to go to school now?
"Sable, keep an eye on her, watch her every move" mum said and grabbed Jan off of her. I felt Sable's arms around me as she teleported us to our room. I felt so lifeless... so useless. Sable even picked out an outfit as I just sat on my bed, wishing this was all a dream. Oh no... how am I going to tell the others?
