They wouldn't let Brendon walk out of the hospital, so the whole way out he complained with as close to a pout as he could manage with the stitches across his left cheek.

"I'm fine." He said looking up at me.

"One, you're not. Two, it's for insurance." I replied getting the keys to my SUV out as the nurse waited in the warmth of the entrance.

After we got home and got Brendon sitting in the den the cat came trotting out to see who was disturbing his peace.

"Hey Luce. Come here bud." Bren said offering a spot on the couch next to him.

"Be careful Bren, he may jump on you not knowing you're hurt." I said walking over to the furry little bastard. I picked him up and walked back over to Brendon and sat down in the crook of the couch next to him. Luce laid down half across me, arms and head in Brendon's lap.

"Hey Lucifer buddy. Did ya miss me?" Brendon said laying a hand on the cat's paw, Lucifer did as he always did, but just to Brendon. He curled his paw around Bren's hand, holding it.

"You need to take your pain pills, okay?" I said after a few minutes. I could tell he was slowly falling asleep and I didn't want him to wake up in pain. He nodded and mumbled an Mkay so I headed to the kitchen.
I got a bottle of Voss and two of the pain pills he was supposed to take every four hours. I walked back into the den as he stared at me with his forest brown eyes. "Here. I said holding out the pills, and opening the water. I took the water back, took a drink for myself, then sat it on the coffee table.

"Are you ready for a nap?" I asked him.
"Yea. I'm really tired actually." He said and I offered him my hand, he pulled himself up and I helped him down the hall to his room.

He fell asleep shortly after he managed to get his shoes off. His face forming a sweet smile reaching across the space to find my hand.
