For the rest of the week, Amelia did not see Caden again. That fact disturbed her more than she liked to admit. She did not ask Violet about him. She just couldn't as she knew whatever she heard about him won't change her perception about him. That realization shocked her more than anything.
Every day she tried to find him in the crowd. Once she heard Violet telling her friend that it was strange for Caden to not attend school for such a long period of time. He was aloof from everyone but he was aware of his actions. Amelia thought she was the reason for his absence. And couldn't have been more accurate.
Caden couldn’t come to school. He did not believe what his wolf had been trying to convince him. He had been rebellious since the start. He wanted to be different. He was passionate about his pack though, which was the reason why nobody knew his identity. Those who knew where sworn to secrecy or the consequences would be severe. He had mastered the art of concealing his natural aura that spoke without words about his identity over the years. He had to take home schooling while he mastered the ordeal of concealing his identity. The mere presence of Amelia was threating it. He couldn’t let it happen. Even if it to practice harder restrain.
“Ofcourse!” Caden exclaimed to the empty kitchen. He did a small happy dance. Then stopped abruptly. He was behaving like a child.
No one had to know about it. She wouldn’t realize it if he did not pursue her. He would always protect her, he vowed. He could definitely avoid meeting her in wolf form as they hardly shifted these days. It is essential, he did not want to confirm his suspicions. He had felt her the moment she had entered the town in the evening. He had dismissed it as something else. Then he had found out that there were three girls shifting in their pack to study. The second she was in the school he had been watching her. Not the stalkerish but more on the you-fascinate-me way.
To think he had taken a much needed break. For a week. That was a bit too much. But he needed time to sought out the mess which were his feelings if there were any. He couldn’t deliberately avoid her. His wolf wouldn’t allow it ever, even though it wasn’t confirmed. He knew that the rational part of him was being illogical. But he admitted, he was scared of what he did not know.
These reasons were what he was using to convince himself. The real reason was something he did not want to acknowledge. There were clear signs that something big was about to happen and he did not want to drag Amelia into its midst. It was not just an instinct but the near reality. He had seen the signs though. This far his suspicions were proven right. He did not want to wonder about the future now as it was bound to be uncertain. He cannot or rather should not pursue Amelia. He could not afford to reveal his identity. That was repeating itself in his head.
Amelia. She was everything he could have dreamed about. She was strong and shy, at the same time. He had seen her make eye contact with everyone, even the Beta. From her school schedule he could tell she was intelligent and smart. But she was kind and patient as she could tolerate Violet, who is the most talkative girl and could be over- bearing at times. But, she made friends with her and never looked like she could have been anywhere else but there. He had to admit not just because of his liking towards her but, she was very beautiful.
Caden frowned remembering her appearance. His mind raced. Is she insecure? Did she have to borrow her clothes? She wasn’t extremely shy. Is she not confident in her own skin? Had something happened to her to make her like this? At this point he was trembling with rage.
Then, he felt her. No, he was not mistaken. But, why was she here? It is …. 7:37pm. It is evening. Dinner time. He was supposed to have dinner with the council. They had asked him, more like commanded his presence for the dinner. Their guests were invited to get acquainted with them. He did not realize until now that he was in his room, in his balcony facing towards the surrounding forest. OH NO! Muttering a string of curses under his breath. He hurriedly put on something presentable but something simple and easy to blend in with.
He suddenly froze in his movements. His head halfway through the shirt and one of his legs in stuck in his jeans while reaching towards the comb on the dressing table. Yeah! That was super awkward. They hadn’t told him who the guest were and he also hadn’t bothered to ask. He couldn’t back out or come up with a sensible excuse for he now knew who the guest were.
no no No NO NO! This couldn’t be happening to him. He wasn’t prepared. He did not know what to do. These were the very few times that he was caught off guard or panicked. And to think all this was because of a girl. A GIRL! Not just anyone but, most importantly his.
A/N: Here it is. I am nervous about Caden's POV. Let me know how it is. I have worked out a way. Every Saturday I will be updating. If possible on Wednesday also.
