"Why are you mad!? I thought you would be happy for me!"
William screamed running his hands frustratedly through his hair.
"oh yeah you tell me you signed up to go to the fucking Army and you expect me to burst with joy right?!" Belinda yelled on the verge of tears
"I'm doing this for us! Its supposed to make things easier for us!"He said trying to get Belinda to understand his point of view.
"Easier for who? For me when I have to get the call saying you died?! This isn't making things easier!" she kept raising her voice flailing her arms around trying to make a point
"Yes. Calm down. You need to see this is the only way we can survive, with the money I get paid we can be okay and your parents will see we have everything under control and that we can do this." he said explaining to her
"You're doing this to prove my parents wrong?!" Belinda asked in disbelief
"Yes! I'm trying to make them see I'm a good influence for you! That I'm not a worthless piece of shit like they think I am! I'm trying so hard to make things right!" William screamed exasperated
"You don't need to risk your life to prove them wrong because its none of their business." she told him walking towards him and hugging him " and don't you ever say that about yourself again. You're the most amazing guy ever and I love you. I mean, you're willing to risk your own life just to make my stuck up parents accept you even though I couldn't give less of a shit for what they think" she said truthfully while tracing the tattoos on his arm knowing that it calmed him down. She knew he was right but she didn't want him to leave. She was seeing the dangerous part he was failing to recognize and that scared her to death.
Belinda and William spent the rest of the day together, just cuddling and watching TV.
"So how long will you be gone?" Belinda asked while she played with Williams curly hair since he was laying with his head on her lap. He sighed, closing his eyes, dreading this conversation that was bound to come up again.
"Basic training is four months and the actual thing is eight months" he answered with incredible sadness in his voice.
"I don't want you to leave. Can't you go AWOL or something?" She asked her voice breaking. William laughed a sad laugh.
"No baby i cant go AWOL it doesn't work like that" he said looking into her eyes. He knew it was gonna be horrible but he also knew he had to do it.
" When are you leaving?" Belinda mumbled already dreading the answer.
"In two weeks" he whispered not even wanting to say it, but he had to, it was happening and he couldn't do anything about it not anymore.
Those two weeks flew by. In between spending every waking moment with each other trying to enjoy the time they had together and crying the two weeks came and went and now they were standing in the deployment base waiting for Williams name to be called.
"Uh. I don't want to leave" William said sadly "is it too late to go AWOL?" he asked holding back his tears
"I don't want you to leave either but you have to" Belinda said letting tears of her own fall.
Just then Williams name was called and it was his time to go.
"I'm gonna miss you so much. You know I love you right?" Belinda said clinging on to Will for dear life. She was afraid that if she let him leave he wouldn't come back and it was killing her.
"I love you too." he said finally letting his tears free and kissing her with all he had because deep down William feared the same thing Belinda does.
With final goodbyes and goodbye hugs and kisses and promises to call and write and video chat as much as William could, he was on his way with a whole in his heart and tears in his eyes but with determination to come back home to the love of his life. He was gonna come home alive and in one piece for her, that was his goal. He was just hoping and praying that it was enough for it to actually end up that way.
