"Will come on" Belinda said as she helped him with his tie. It's been a couple of weeks since his accident. Now they are getting ready for dinner at Belinda's parents house. Will has been getting better but he's still not well enough to go back.
"Do I have to go?" he asked while fidgeting with his hair. Belinda just slapped his hands away and finished with his tie.
"Yes. Now stop messing with your hair and let's go." She told him while opening the door. William followed behind her limping.
"Why did you leave your crutches?" Belinda asked Will as she started the car.
"Because this is the boot thing. I can walk on it and nothing happens so I don't need to lug around those stupid things" He told her.
The car ride was filled with laughter and singing the whole 40 minutes it took to get to Belinda's parents house. As they made their way up the drive way to the front door William started to get nervous again.
Belinda's parents weren't the most supportive about their relationship, they never were so he wanted to make a good impression now that he was in the Army.
"Oh sweetheart we've missed you!" Belinda's mom exclaimed as she wrapped her arms around her daughter. Belinda hastily hugged her back.
"Hey mom" She said smiling. Maybe today would be different.
"And oh you brought.... William" She said and made a face.
"Mom" Belinda warned.
"Hello Mrs.- " William didn't get to finish because Belinda's mom was already walking inside of the house.
"Nice to see you too" he sighed
"Don't worry we'll just eat and leave. As long as I give them five minutes with me they're happy" Belinda said trying to cheer him up.
"Let's just go inside. Wouldn't want to keep the parents waiting" He mumbled while he limped inside.
10 minutes later and they were all sitting down at the dinning room.
"So William, still breathing I see" Belinda's dad said bitterly.
" uh yeah still at it " Will answered, uncomfortable.
"Dad!" Belinda scowled
"Your father's right, Belinda. I would've never guessed William here would come back, much less alive." Belinda's mother said shrugging.
Belinda looked over at William and saw that his eyes were watery.
"I mean look at him." Belinda's mom continued.
"Limping around, with a bullet wound. Don't get offended kid but you should've stayed in war. Would've done something good for once instead of keeping Belinda away from us." she finished
"What the fuck mom?!" Belinda shouted standing up.
"Stop! Just stop! You were never there! If you actually cared a little bit you'd know I'm in love with him! You'd know he only risked his life to go to war just so both of you wouldn't look down on him and treat him like shit! You'd know he was the highest grade on the exams and that he has a bullet wound and a broken leg because he saved another soldier. He lost his best friend and he has no one so why don't you just pipe the fuck down and firmly grasp the stick that's shoved so far up your ass, take it out and stop with this shit."
By the time Belinda finished she was breathing heavily and her parents looked at her shocked. Belinda just grabbed William by the arm and dragged him out to their car.
They got inside, Belinda started the car and they were off to their own place.
The car ride was silent and tense. Neither of them said a word until they were parked outside of their apartment.
"You shouldn't have done that" William sighed.
"I'm sick of them treating you like that." She told him truthfully.
"I still think it was wrong of you to do that, but thanks" he said leaning in and kissing her.
"And I love you too"
