"Hi baby!" Belinda greeted Will. It has been 5 months and it has been hell for both of them. Belinda is always worrying and she can hardly sleep because she's always thinking of William and wondering if he is okay or if he's hurt or worse. William on the other hand had been giving his all in training and in war.
Now they were video chatting for the fourth time since he left. The army was really strict so besides the occasional letters being received and sent they didn't have much communication so they made the best when moments like these occurred.
"Hey sweetheart " William answered with a genuine smile. She can always make him smile even when he's having the shittiest day.
"How are you? When are you coming back home?" She asked with teary eyes. "I've missed you so much" she continued her voice cracking and letting the tears fall.
"No no don't cry. Please don't cry. I'm fine see? I'm fine nothing has happened to me" Will told her while standing up and moving around so she could see that in fact he was still very much alive and breathing and in one piece.
"I know I just worry" she said wiping the tears off her cheeks.
"I know you do but its fine. I'll come home alive." he promised "Okay?"
"Okay" she answered with a small smile
The spent hours talking about silly stuff, remembering the times they spent together, their fights that now looked so pointless and stupid and a lot of other stuff. They were so focused on talking to each other they lost track of time.
"What time is it over there?" Will asked randomly.
"Uhm 5:15 AM" answered Belinda while checking the time on her phone
"It's getting super late for you" he told her realizing he needed to go too
"I don't want to sleep" she said not wanting him to go again
"hey remember when you used to ask me to sing for you?" William asked her.
"Yes" Belinda answered with a bright smile which made him smile back. Of course she remembered, how could she forget? He has the most amazing voice but he never sang for anyone but her.
" Okay well I'm gonna sing for you and then you're gonna go to sleep okay?" he told her chuckling
"okay. sing" she said while laying on the bed and putting her laptop so the she could still see him while she laid on her side. If she closed her eyes she could pretend he was still there, at home, safe and sound. So She did, she closed her eyes and listened to his soft voice.
"You and I,
We're like fireworks and symphonies exploding in the sky.
With you, I'm alive
Like all the missing pieces of my heart, they finally collide.
So stop time right here in the moonlight,
Cause I don't ever wanna close my eyes.
Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song.
I'm just a sad song."
You're the perfect melody,
The only harmony
I wanna hear.
You're my favorite part of me,
With you standing next to me,
I've got nothing to fear.
Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song."
William finished singing the rest of the song and looked at Belinda smiling sadly. Belinda had started crying her eyes out while he was singing. After she calmed down and was falling asleep she told him she loved and missed him with all of her heart.
"I love you and I miss you too, so much" he whispered ending the call seeing that she had fallen asleep right after he said those words.
"just a couple of months left" he sighed, getting ready for another day in that horrible place.
